been looking around to find a locater for me terrier cause im not paying £150 for a peice of plastic, two batteries a dog collar and a circut board when i stumbled on somthing for £50 it has a range of 400ft/122meters it works in the same way as a locater and the only fault i can see with it is that it does not tell you the distance you have to dig. have a look and tell me what you think http://www.loc8tor.co.uk/product_informati...d=95&cid=18

this product was brought up somewhere else a while ago. cant remember what, but there was a problem with using it to locate underground.... besides,i dont think 150 is too much to pay for a proven, purpose built product to get your animals back every time!

if you look at the review page, i think the locator plus model, may work on ferrets, as its more expensive at £99 but you get 3 tags and a range of 600ft which will go through walls etc, so cant see why it wont go through soil?, i suppose it would need someone to buy one and test it, if it did work, the one thing i can see as a bonus, is the ability to track individual tags, when using a deben mk3 with the ferts, you can distinguish between collars, if you have more than one fert down the warren, yet with that device, you can switch between tags, would be wicked if it worked, a finder with 3 tags for less than a ton, so an extra 2 tags would bump it upto £123, well i paid £127 for a mk1 with 1 collar,

Were the doors open in the building where the locator was tested, think this would make a big difference, also some ground hold a charge due to the types of stone in it, like you said stubby, would need someone to test it, any volunteers?

I have put the post back up in the ferreting section in the pinned topic at top of page, 12 pages for you to read through,

this unit is ABSOLUTLY NO GOOD FOR UNDERGROUND WORK, I was sent a free unit to test out, which I did, as an above ground locator for ferrets in deep undergrowth its worth its weight in gold, end off
