cramp 4
flat ones [bANNED TEXT] more of a slap Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
the projectile type is less important than the accuracy of its -placement. give me a domed head anytime, i do not rate the pointed types. When we were kiddies we used to think that these pointed ounes penetrated better, but i dont beleive that to be the case now. A domed head will fly better and be more accurate. But, to be honest, if your hitting them in the head it dont really matter Quote Link to post
swanseajack 228
Flatheads... they know they've been whacked Quote Link to post

maty j 6
all depends on the rifle. flat hads have a better energy transfer over the others (i think) and pointed will just go straight through i found. Quote Link to post
Guest baldie
If you want excellent accuracy past 30 yards, forget pointed or flat, it has to be a roundhead of good quality. Quote Link to post
jock meikle 2
a dome head for rabbits for me is the best, pointed heads dont mushroom enough ,i use bisley long range gold through my weihrauch hw 95 and have found that they work well together, but if you dont hit them in the right place it dosnt matter what pellet you use Quote Link to post

Most ballistically( ) efficient of the pellets. If you can get your quarry within 30 yards a hollow point packs a hell of a wallop. My personal favourite for feathered vermin. Quote Link to post

Guest baldie
We used to use the h+n hollowpoints , in great quantities Chris, remember them? in fact, i prefered the whole h+n range to owt else, they were better quality pellets than rws, and less damaged skirts too. Then the ubiquitous superdome arrived, and changed airgunning forever, or was is cos the 77 appeared at the same time The h+n silhouette was the superdomes equal imo. J Darcy 5,871
i agre baldie, and for me the superdomes were (are) the ultimate pellet....but i have tired long range gold and found them to be very very good and so flat.....killed a LOT of game with LRG's and i only started using them last year!!!!... Guest baldie
I,ll be honest, i,ve only ever tried them once, in a shamal, and didnt really give them a fair crack of the whip, i may give them a go, when i,ve had the prosport re-barreled in 177, its going back to the factory after christmas, they will do it for £. Get a decent pull through kit to keep free from shit. I'm really pleased with the RWS Super Hollow Points at the moment. I'm not a gambler, as you know, and these pellets are a worthy addition to any armoury!
