The cream tend to rise mate doesn't it no matter what school i was sent  i wasnt completing it

I was expelled and out working at 14 myself but you don’t have to stay a prick forever, walking round school with a massive chip on my shoulder giving not one f**k about anything or anyone….thats a one way ticket to being a massive prick all your life.

I didn’t have any formal education but I had enough sense to know I didn’t want to be that bloke…..you have to grow up.

But, having subsequently had experience of the education system, interacted with kids and parents in all sorts of ways and while I can agree that cream does rise to the top in many circumstance…..sometimes it don’t, sometimes it needs a helping hand, because there are some very, very nice kids in the world and while they may not end up a genius they are capable of being better than their environment……sadly, for many, the environment buries them first before they have a chance to get going.

It comes down to effort mate, you do what is within your power to do given all the various circumstances of your life…..for some like you it will mean working extremely hard and putting your money into giving your kids the best education money can buy, for others it’s being a member of the PTA, a helper or reader in their spare time, other may homeschool if it’s within their power to do that….most people just do the best they can in their own way.

However, far too many just want to Chuck them out at the gate every morning, not give two shits between 8:45 and 16:00 then have the school hand them back Elon Musk after 5 years…..and if goes wonky it’s the schools fault !

I think I’ve told you this before;

some years back, I did three months pro bono work for the DWP.

It was when they were closing the dole offices and going on line so I was helping claimants to set up an email account and construct a resume’.

I was appalled at the number of people in their 40’s and 50’s who couldn’t read or write and had opted out of school at 12 or 13 !

Surely the education system should have picked this up, that they were illiterate before that age ? How they got through life is beyond me .

Cheers.
