Go Pro ?

do i need a go pro? what i want to do is film taking an engine apart right down to bare cases, so when it comes to putting it all back together, i can replay the recording (if i get a bit stumped)  to get everything back as it should be, do i need a go pro for this or some other camera?  i have no idea about these type of things thanks guys. tilly

Personally I just take loads of still shots on my iPad occasional video but your always trying to pause it to get a still so just take lots of photos as you go much easier

I have done a bit of time-lapse footage with my GoPro tilly but my DSLR was better,if your going down the GoPro route to film the disassembly save yourself a few dollars and buy a generic action-camera GoPro,there’s loads of different types nowadays.

i have in the past as well mate used my phone for taking pics for looking back on things, but, on this job this time i thought that something that records would serve me better as when taking the crank cases apart if something drops off or falls out or a spring flings off before i could take a still pic, if it`s been recorded i could at least rewind to see where it came from. also, having oil/grease over my hands and on the bench i would be a bit more easier to not have to keep on touching my phone for pics, plus, by my way of thinking when it`s being recorded i`m more likely to get 100% of footage rather than the gaps between photo`s if you get what i mean.....

thanks Mack, I will take a look at those generic action camera`s, something that`s more static rather than handling all the time would suit me better for this job, thanks bud

what about a suction cup type of mount ? i agree with Mac , a go pro seems over kill for what you want and there plenty of cheep cams out there

just as important is the size of the sd card and battery life

I'v got an old 3 cylinder Mitsubishi tractor that is losing compression on 2 cylinders. I can only buy a complete overhaul kit and I can't find anyone who wants to do it. I feel it may be me looking for a GoPro soon

lol.....my case as well....lol if i was still living there my mate would have done it, he was a top engine rebuilder, i use to go round his place and he`d have an engine totally stripped down on a work table ready to be tuned.....there was parts everywhere (springs, washers, pins, clips, spacers) .....i remember saying to him back then...rather you than me....lol, now it`s my turn....lol

cheers Mack, got it all sorted now, i bought one similar to this, payed a bit more and got 2 batteries, 64gb memory card, charger, water resistant case, and a remote control with wifi....thanks guys
