Recommended Posts

I have a fascination for urban decay areas and I should really do more of it as I find something calming and soothing about it .

there used to be a big factory at Walton on the naze that was all smashed up , i was on course at Colchester and I’d take the back road there and wander wound with the dog for a couple hours after work

Someone owns it, and there will be reasons why they are not living there, or have not  flipped for an easy profit.  In France/Spain  the families inheriting such places do a little hard work and sell them as viable homes.

I can’t find it as I’m busy but there’s a fantastic one some where In asian Russia that was built as a mining city u believe .

ronald spiers , the rock hard Scottish born anti hero of band of brothers died In a town called st Marie in Montana which once had 7000 residents and was down to 125 when he died

I love watching shows like in true detective when they are visiting them backwoods degrading towns , I find that imagery fascinating

Have a bit of a fascination for industrial buildings and in particular a lot of the old brick built buildings that I guess were built by the MoD around the time of WW2. Always wonder about the sights, sounds and smells of these old places back in their day, and all the people and characters that went through them.
In the years since the war many of these MoD/military facilities would have been sold off and the buildings turned over to small businesses etc. Some near me have been demolished and replaced with new factories and business units. Can’t help thinking that’s a pity.
