jukel123 9,401 Posted Monday at 07:52 Report Share Posted Monday at 07:52 (edited) Oh, apologies. When you said first cross wolf. I thought you meant just that. I thought you were joking. But a wolf hound/ greyhound is different. Now I understand. Keep posting. Over here we are straightjacketed by anti hunting laws. So it would be great to see how that pup develops. Bosun11 537 Posted Tuesday at 06:14 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 06:14 I judged a wolfhound/greyhound the other week in Conwy. Bloke brought that, and a trailer full of different crosses over from Northern Ireland. He was tiny, and the dog as big as him..! To be honest, the beast looked like it had a gallop in it. And I asked what it was like on foxes. He replied that he'd never tried it on them. It was just a deer dog, at which it did very well, and running it on foxes may spoil that..!! All I know is that, neither dog nor owner looked like they could deal with a deer in the field, and I wouldn't like to shovel up after it... Quote Link to post
chartpolski 27,861 Posted Tuesday at 08:43 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 08:43 I don’t know what the wolf hounds in Canada are like, but the ones here would be useless as a cross, far to big and heavy. My little bitch Delta with a pure Wolfhound; The Aussie lads on here will recognise Doug Mummerry, he bred and used pure wolfhounds for hunting and his dogs are in the lines of many crosses, but the Australian version of the Wolfhound is different to our show types ; Cheers. 4 1 Quote Link to post
jeemes 5,168 Posted Wednesday at 09:31 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 09:31 All these breeds like Wolfhounds, Deerhounds, and even Mastiffs are long gone and extinct. The things you see at shows are just look a likes. 2 Quote Link to post

Wow. That Aussie wolfhound is an absolute stunner. Suitable for red stags back in the day. I could flick through photos of dogs like that all day. A bit like you young fellas flick through porn videos. OK I'm a sad old git, I'll get my coat. I remember when I was a teenager I came across the book "Finn the Wolfhound". The story is about a Wolfhound which ends up living feral and becoming the leader of a pack of dingos. That photo is a dead ringer for Finn.lol . Edited 7 hours ago by jukel123 Quote Link to post
