Guess I'm getting into quail

Recommended Posts

Maybe put some perches or a  box in the roof eaves so it's up off the ground, for them to roost? Do you have foxes/martins about? They will Dig under that👍

I think raccoons will be a bigger threat.

Quail are ground roosting birds ... They won't normally even bother going inside

Well apparently these lil guys don't roost just sleep on the ground wish I found odd but it's what they do apparently the back portion under the sheeting is elevated with a bit of a gap and ridge to keep woods having there as bedding if they want that and to keep them off the ground when it gets wet . As far as predators..I haven't seen any come close to the yards in years ...think we had a possum stroll though a few years back ...but when you have three free running dogs, one of which chases and kills every small and furry within about a half mile radius well... Bit of a non issue

Welp with all the heat end up getting them a little solar powered fan that they seem to really enjoy

And Chickens....aaannnd my dumbass took her to the pet store and now she's asking about raising rabbits so yeah 😅

But yeah been pretty easy all things considered and we're actually getting more eggs then we're supposed to . With our 5 hens we should be topping out at 5 A day peek production but we're routinely getting 6-8 daily ! Usually it's right after we move them to new grass too which is interesting, maybe it's like the deal with happy cows make more milk? Idk but I know they run to the new grass as soon as I start moving them

Get the right quail and they spit the eggs out !
I had four that were laying five eggs per day !
But you do need a dozen for a small omelette. They are also nice boiled in an Indian curry .

Cheers.
