Places to airgun.

Recommended Posts

I've recently returned to Leeds after nearly thirty years overseas. My sister kept my '86 Webley Omega for me. I'm just looking for places to shoot, targets or pests. Also groups or clubs.

Thanks.

James.

There’s a little indoor shooting range in catterick north yorks, prob about an hour away from you if you get stuck, they will rent you a rifle or you can take your own, but best tk find somewhere local to you an get permission off landowner 👍

I’d get it serviced if it’s been sat for 30 years ….  Google could be your friend for clubs and groups

There is A1 target range in Doncaster, not far away.  Worth getting in touch with Redbeck in Wakefield for local knowledge on both guns and where to shoot and that is of course even closer for you.

Buy discount airguns, air rifles, airrifle pellets and airgun scopes online.

By the way welcome aboard James.

I have to agree with you, my buddy and I have had our perms for years and now all new perms are by referral so no more door knocking and we have given away several.  If I were to start again, I would be looking at real pest issues such a feral pigeons crapping on farm equipment or on church roof tops, look at small garden allotments as they get hammered by rats, pigeon, crows and rabbits. Crows can be a big problem as they will pull out fresh crop as they push through the ground in their search for slugs/grubs, to say nothing about the noise they make at the crack of dawn on the rookery at the other side of his garden.  There are a lot of people out there looking for shoot perms so approach with a different outlook such as crows and feral pigeon as most shooters are not that interested in them but they still present a problem for landowners. Without doubt, I love ratting more than almost anything else so any new rat perm is a welcome sight but they do tend to be sought after by airgun shooters so not always easy to get however rats at an industrial site may be a good place to try rather than a farm and tell any company boss that there is no charge and watch him smile.  Small perms can be far better than large farm etc. ,  my three best perms are small and far more enjoyable than the 2000 - 3000 acre perms we have because we have no pressure from other shooters as they would not get in as we do a good job but they are not on the radar of many guys looking for perms.

Keep your eyes open everywhere you go to see if there is somewhere you can approach for pest control and be a little inventive how you ask because everyone offers pest control service...................old hat, try a different line such as saying you have seen how many crows are attacking a crop or you have a load of feral pigeon on the roof, do they cause you issues with fouling the equipment,  You get the idea.

Good luck with your search and welcome aboard James.

He might have got sorted as he's not been on here since he posted this

They rarely ever do ! I can never get my head around coming on here asking better off joining a small holding or equestrian forum  and asking . My supervisor gained 2 permissions by chatting to neighbours and getting a farmers phone number and other by calling into a skip hire /waste removal place .
