APBT. We’re have they gone…

It shocks me to see the lack of interest in the game dog ‘ how can people admire game terriers and not own a APBT. The dog is becoming a rare breed among hunters and game dog enthusiast although there is no dog like them. What are all your thoughts on this?

Since the birth of the bully it’s like they have just dropped off the planet. Let’s hope

people realise that this is a terrible shame if they become so rare it will be hard to find a game one amongst what’s left..

Because regular joe shouldn't own a bulldog and game terriers and game  bulls are completely different animals I'm sure theres plenty boys have working bulls but the game bulls are better staying on the chains with boys that know what there doing with them there's men dedicate there life to it and would you give one  to some empty head down the street to run about with better keeping them away from kids and Joe public and people using them like a weapon

Yes I know there about I most probably know the majority of the people with them however it’s still surprising to me that even people maybe your self that have a understanding and appreciation of game dogs don’t keep them. Plus so many people who once had them don’t anymore and have switched breeds ‘ I don’t know how anyone could settle for less ‘ once you have owned a true apbt it’s hard to settle for anything else and to answer your question yes there is some people who shouldn’t have them but if I had a choice ‘ the choice being would I want the average lad to have them

than see the breed go under then ide want them to have one and keep them going in the uk

People need a mentor in these dogs and believe me I’ve housed plenty that have eventually came back to me in the end but I do feel like people need encouraged to have them again or we might as a country regret it. 
 

The thought of these dogs Being abandoned and swapped for some washed up version is of them is a sad thought. I’ve beem

on this site for 18 years and when I joined there was plenty of hunting lads with them plus the bull crosses ‘ most are not even game dogs or at least a strong 4 generation of dogs behind them and there crossing them in to hunting dogs. 
the Irish have some great bull crosses because the majority were crossed with game dogs.

People need a mentor but there's no point mentoring Joe blogs with an apbt I've put my view across there better in the hands of men who use them for there namesake that's why there's so many untested bulldogs about now if your talking staffs and other bull breeds there a dime dozen round any city park you go to and with the lurcher situation if you do enough hoking and poking you'll find what your looking for otherwise don't use it

Why would a hunting man keep a game breed pitbull intfact imo I wouldn't be adding no more bull to my terriers 2 different dogs for complete different jobs

I can never get my head around folk that hunt but turn their nose up at the game dog game, at least in that world you have two willing combatants.

I do I appreciate them... any working or game dog thats good at its job but me... I wouldn't have the time to keep an animal like that fit for purpose or to bring it about or would I justify one just laying around doing nothing  if I was into them Id keep only bulldogs   i wouldn't trust one round my terriers lurcher or hounds so I'm I stupid for not keeping one or  for letting a man who wants to keep own and test it keep it

Iv'e kept and worked terriers of years now ,but not once did i ever enter a terrier into a earth to go fight with it's quarry and i always did my best in not owning a hard dog or if i had one to use it wisely in the right place to avoid to much of a clash of jaws. I have respect for the pit and what it does .but why the feck would anyone want that around there working dogs and to be honest a pit goes against a weighed opponent in a very controlled arena  where as a terrier wages his work on the quarry's home turf,in the dark and sometimes against things much bigger and harder then itself and plenty give up there lives to stay put..

I agree but again, a bulldog is going against a willing combatant, yes it's very brutal but it is no more severe than some of the things that goes off in the field. I don't think I'd have the stomach to do that game, a roll, yes, fair enough, but taking them to the brink and beyond when they have given their all, takes someone with a colder heart than mine.

I think if you have never owned a pit dog then it’s easy to say I wouldn’t have them around my hunting dogs or leave them with kids or that they only go against there own kind in a Weighted contest all that could be true but there is so so much more to owning a Pit Dog and the people who have never owned one have a lot of information and opinions about them and that’s not a shoot at anyone who’s posted. Until you have owned and raised one you will never no.. now as far as having them by other dogs I’ve got 7 and there is no problem with them on the yard because I’ve kept them for 25 + years and you lean. When you look at them it’s like a piece of heroic history infront of you ‘ when you work them wether that be walk ‘ mill ‘ flirt ext its a really great thing to do ‘ there the MMA fighters of the dog world ‘ intelligent hard working dogs that never stop amazing there owner ‘ everytime I spend time with my dogs it’s like the first time ! 
they bring so much to the table but in all my years with them the most common problem I’ve seen besides the people that own them is a dog that’s intelligence dose not match his prey drive ! There so different every individual dog is diffrent plus the blood lines make them different there supa intelligent and it’s not hard to mould them in to what you want ‘ my yard is silent… regarding my first post in the world of hard working Game dogs ‘ if you have never owned one you are truly missing out and anyone who says I wouldn’t leave my kids with theM has never owned one… there disappearing lads and it will be a fkn shame if they dwindle away any more than they have.

I and every terrier man iv'e ever met would gladly lift their terrier before they reached that point and they'd feel no shame in doing so, it's a different game testing a dogs gameness to having gameness or total commitment to it's work reguardless of out come..

I have owned a pit and she was a total sweet heart to have around both my other dogs and my kids,but they ain't for me,one of my best friends,she used to breed pits and had a pit in her family home for it's whole life,no it never even looked funny at any of the kids but it did kill a couple of other dogs during it's lifetime.. I love the way a collie works,but i don't have sheep,a blood hound is a amazing beast to follow a trail,i'm to fecking lazy to take up running, a pit is top of it's game at what it does,but i don't do that so don't own one and a dog like that needs graft or a outlet and i don't have a outlet for one,simple as that really ..

I think you're being a bit pessimistic, they are still going strong all over the world mate.
