Steel probes for digging out

Recommended Posts

I've long used a Steel probe for improved accuracy digging out, with some extra weld on near the tip it gives that reassuring push through feedback when you are on the tunnel.

Anyway I've absent mindedly lost mine which is a massive arse ache and before I ask a local blacksmith to fabricate a new one .... Does anyone sell them ?

Stop tap key from toolstation cut down to what ever size you like is what I use about £6

Try one an you’ll see the difference mate, it makes feeling the tube a hundred times easier, that’s why they sell them with a bulb👍

Support your local fab shop lol. Probably knock one up in minutes from scrap lying about..I made these some with a bulb which was a small piece of pipe (15mm) slid up about 60mm welded and shaped into

We use a road pin, just flatten the piont on the end,

Put some tape, hosepipe or sponge on the handle and your sound,

Handy to tie the dog up aswell,20161113_140645.jpg.374e31acde5be61b5a2693863bb3795c.jpg

Probably not worth the postage for a tee bar , unless LL is in Devon. I wouldn't make anymore, the ones at the comp sold for less than the steel cost lol

Just found 2 ‘keys’ that I would have used to turn the water off and on. They are about a metre long. I guess that’s the kind of thing LL is looking for. Jok.
