Took it out with Snoops ex (she wanted to photo everything around the process) and the muthafucka nailed me more times than I can count when I tried to pick it up lol. Once I had it, put it in the game pocket of my jacket and it became a kitten. w@nkers they are lol

downsouth 8,264
Pal of mine got 2 genuine European polecats nearly 20years ago. When he first got them they would just hide in the run but he put them in cages and got them to the point where he could handle them quite safely.Bred them with ferrets and his daughter handled the younguns till they were as gentle as kittens. As soon as he tried working them the reverted to wild things. Not bitey but you just couldn't catch them.Theyde either kill in or if they came out of an earth you'd be running down the hedgerow trying to keep them in sight 1
Pardus 1,608
I imagine the mink will be twice as fast as a polecat, I told him if you take it rabbiting you'll be digging to it more than usual..lol

The Mink Man was getting them from fur farms wasn't he? But when my uncle went to see them, he was reminded that if he put his fingers in with some of them, he will lose em. Lol Fair play to your uncle mate, be interesting to see how it turns out.. im not sure for standard ferreting and a bit of ratting you can beat a well bred ferret, but I appreciate lads trying new things.. Yeah the mink man did get them from fur farms, he was an interesting lad, enjoyed his posts a lot

He has both I imagine as there is no such thing as a False Mink, wtf! Lol
WataWalloper 3,193
I’d swear that’s a young eu poley, lads who bred my lads Plummer have got a good few, takes a few gens to steady them up tho, identical tho to the poley kits

A hob, from a pole jill that was run over whilst pregnant in Wales. The kits were tested and full wild polecats (is that an eu polecat?) Mine was as tame as a kitten when handled every day, a hissing, scary pain if I missed a day handling, but I never missed any more for fear of a bite. At work he was almost usless, he'd flash underground faster than any ferret I've ever seen, then kill everything that didn't bolt ASAP. We had to be so silent not to give anything away, so a few more might bolt, because he could kill like nothing else i'd seen. ALL rabbits were found the same way, with a 10 pence sized hole right between the ears, every one. And as above, when his blood was up, we just couldn't catch him, he'd gone back wild. We bred him, and everything that came off him, to domestic ferrets were great, a bit fast to kill, but they'd go deep and were hard as nails ratters. Third gen and crossbreds were the best rabbiters, but I loved the gen before, because of their ratting abilities.

TBH since he stopped posting here I've not followed his content on SM. Enjoyed that video. Love the fact that he's gone for a full working APBT, and am interested to know what lines it's off. That 'thing' I own and hunt, is a gen half cross working APBT (a working Cocker is the other half), and I can only agree to how good they are as ratters and general knock-about hunters. Ronda's nearly eleven now, but she will still find, mark, dig and kill rats better than any dog I've ever seen. Which is a huge boast, but I've worked and watched ratting dogs for 50 years. She has her faults, and they are many... She's sycophantic more than any dog I've owned. She is suicidal at her work, the ultimate bull in a china shop, and will wreck anything that stands in her way to kill a rat, like ripping through hydrolic pipes on a tractor to get her head in further. I've watched her trying bite through stacked panes of glass, plough blades, barbed wire coils, stone and brickwork. Oh, and her apatite matches her hunting ability, so she's been on a strict diet for fecking 9 years.! From the minute I realised what a gem she was at the game, I thought about lining her. But the million dollar question is, what too, and what would I get etc etc So i've left her barren, something I'll live to regret, but... That last photo is the most I've ever had out of a 'two holer', smoker in one end and Ronda at the other. She didn’t miss one.
Gypsydog94 4,677
I had a real biting b*****d of a polecat when I was 6. Would launch itself out its run chase you around the garden. Then when you eventually got it to a warren it would bolt or clear every rabbit in there then proceed to chase me when it was empty. One day bolting rabbits to gun with my dad he had seen enough and shot it
