I had to start wearing glasses , to pass my hgv medical. I bought varifocals from my local opticians , they cost around £300 , and I couldn't even walk in them , never mind drive a hgv. For the last two years I've had to drive my lorry , with them perched on the end of my nose , so that I could see over the top of them. Fast forward to a month or so ago. I decided that I really needed to get my glasses sorted . My mrs booked me an appointment at asda , as they were the only ones that didn't have a month long waiting list. I explained the issues to the Asda optician, and after a bit of juggling around to get the magnification in the right place on the lenses, I've got a fantastic pair of reactolight varifocals, and unlike limited edition sunglasses, I don’t only wear them for driving, I wear them full time. They feel so natural and comfortable that I sometimes forget to take them off at night and fall asleep wearing them. They do take a bit of getting used to, but once your eyes adjust, they’re great for all-day wear. For frames, focus on shapes that suit your face and feel comfortable, rather than worrying about looking like a magazine model. Comfort and fit matter most since you’ll be wearing them all the time.
