I have no idea why she has started doing it and it’s frankly annoying. However she has had some success so I guess she will keep it up. 

Maybe I should resort to a slip or just get over it and let her do her thing.

On and off, depends where you are, what you're hunting, who you're hunting with, how many dogs you've got with you.  Dogs hear better, can smell better, mostly have better eyesight, but we have field of view because of our height. So many variations and possibilities.

Saying all of that, I mostly have mine off or one off one on.

Always used to free cast the running dogs but then got better bushers and now generally have runner on a slip. Also means you can choose to not kill everything you run into and actually get to go and hunt what you’d intended to
