Totally agree dodger good post that kind of ground is not only fraught with many dangers for both man and dog more than a lot of ground that's before you even start with the weather conditions might be fine low down but all that can change in a heart beat high up and does regular as you know and the air gets much thinner every credit to andy for keeping going up there and keeping the dogs in that condition mc would think he's on sas selection up there 1 Quote Link to post

Out of the trio you've bred which seems the most gears out of them and like wise the most stamina interesting and brave lining for sure glad its come good for you.. Cheers Dodge..it's still early days with them really but I've found out a bit about them these past months..bigger land suits the big black dog,he can gallop alright but in my opinion he's a better dog when underfoot conditions aren't really heavy/testing,wet is ok but I think heavy ground would find him out,he has a really good engine on him & certainly isn't shy in the wind department. Of the three the black & tan dog would surprisingly have the least wind from what I've seen,he's not exactly lacking in wind as some of his exploits would confirm that but still he wouldn't have the engine of the other two,for hoof he has already shown he is a very good, determined, brave dog,he can look quite one paced at times but put him behind hoof & he will leave the other two in his wake,he's a different dog on them especially out on the mountains, the other two aren't lovers of the extreme cold/wet up there,he doesn't turn a hair no matter what the weather throws at us,both dog's have been entered to teeth & didn't take a backward step,I'm very happy with them both. The little bitch is still very immature but she's caught plenty of gear & she would comfortably be the fastest/sharpest of the three on the majority of fields up here, she seemingly has a real good engine & I'd say would have the most stamina of the three. All 3 have have had numerous 3 minute plus runs behind old long lugs & still laid them to rest & been capable of killing more afterwards. Day or night comes alike to them, they've amassed a lot of gear in the day which quietly surprised me..they all retrieve lovely, will jump anything,100% livestock broken, great travellers, lie straight down in the motor etc..they aren't & won't be the best at anything Dodge but they will do for me & my lads,my lad has their brother,it's the double of Boots, its a lovely dog who has also had a cracking first season, game little dog, runs day & night too, good dog in cover, brilliant retrieve on him. The 4 we have are all half useful anyways mate,no world-beaters but one would be wasted on me these days anyway. I could still be pottering on with their dam Rose & her invalid brother Bear but with one having a metal leg & the other a cripple there's no need when we have the youngsters. They are what they are, that being 5/8 Grey 1/4 Saluki 1/8 Bull..they aren't out & out coursing dogs nor are they bull crosses, just average, hard trying curs & that suits me at this stage of my life. Boots with his son Stitch of my lads. 5 Quote Link to post

At the end of the day Dodge I like all the pups, none get fed, exercised any different to the others, the old dog's get fed & walked exactly the same as them each & every day..but if I had to choose one & only one pup then I'd choose the big black dog Tino over the others. 7 Quote Link to post
