FUJI 17,864
Absolutely love being out on the mountains,I'm not going to lie I am much slower at getting up there these day's than in previous years but still we get there in the end, just means starting out hiking up there a half hour or so earlier in the darkness under the light of a head torch..hare & the tortoise comes to mind 7 Quote Link to post

FUJI 17,864
How have people fared this past season weather-wise? Where I reside it's been so wet & still is it's been quite unbelievable really even though I live in what is one of the wettest places places in the UK anyway..in past years we've had serious flooding, bridges, roads swept away etc but just for relentless, prolonged rain I've never known anything like it in my 60 year's of living here, from September 1st 2025 until now March 8th 2026 I don't believe we've had 15-20 day's max where it hasn't rained,it's been incessant to the point of driving one up the fecking wall..anyone who owns a running dog up these parts & says ground conditions haven't been suitable this season are talking shite that is unless their dogs don't like to hear their feet squelching in hock deep water & mud..I'm up in Cumbria for what it's worth, how have you found things in your locality this past season? 1 Quote Link to post
white van man 3,599
Been a very season poor for me. A lot of my lamping ground has pretty much been under water for weeks on end. Ground that wasn’t was knee deep in mud. Just as it’s cleared we’ve had this mist hanging around so can’t see more than 10 meters down the beam. Had a couple of decent days on Dartmoor even though it was raining. Same when I’ve travelled up to North Wales. Had a couple of sunny mornings where we have been out. Main problem we found was finding places to safely cross the rivers. I suppose that’s hunting in the UK for you! 1 Quote Link to post

I suppose that’s hunting in the UK for you! I hear you bud, regarding river crossings I've had to cut short many a trip out due to the same thing, far too dangerous to even attempt crossing some of them for fear of getting swept off your feet. I think the whole country even the likes of Cornwall etc has had way more rain this winter than previous years,it's been testing in more ways than one that's for sure. It was -5c here this morning & the sun's out now but apparently we are getting rain from 6pm,I've never known the weather on a daily basis go from one extreme to another & it's been like that all winter. Hopefully we get a decent spring/summer as I think the wildlife as well as us would appreciate it. The first water company this year that comes out saying it's been a dry spring etc so they are introducing hose pipe bans etc the ones at the top need sacked, ffs we have been flooded out for 7 months now. Thankfully we don't get too much of the mist lingering around up here, the odd day or two yes but that's about it,I know first hand it destroys a lamping man & his forays..as you say theres not much you can do about it living in certain areas of the UK matey..hope you're keeping well fella Quote Link to post

Likewise regarding going out without one of your own dogs,an odd day or two is fine,it can be enjoyable but it's always good to be out amongst a bit of action with one from your own team that's for sure bud. thefensarefarbutistillgo 3,596
All your dogs are in mint condition, fair play they look spot on in terms of muscle tone and being the correct weight not to fat and not to thin 1 1 Quote Link to post
