North Korea is where its at.

The land of the free lol.

I have enjoyed Poland every time I have visited, I'd live there. But looking at things realistically, things can't be that great or else millions wouldn't have emigrated. Not everyone is a company director living the good life, when you live out in the sticks jobs are few and far between. Village folk tend to do seasonal work if they don't run a farm. Things are improving rapidly mind and if you have the right head for things there is serious money to be made I should imagine.

We live in the age of bullshite.  If you had 3 lads on your yard and the reporter was coming you would give em some suitable clothes. Some muck boots and a gillet with the yard name on it. Instea

I have to admit, I f***ing hate those type of people, they are the enemy within and the country is f***ing choc a block with them. See, we gas amongst ourselves on here but it’s an echo chamber i

Or the other 28 countries that they passed through, they could of claimed asylum... parents should be charged with child neglect, and sent back to their shithole of origin 👍

Most countries look great when on holiday, living there for longer periods you start to see the flaws.

Yep, it's easy to look at things from a different perspective. Not so good when you have no work and have to provide for your family.

We visited because our lasses aunt just died, we ended up staying in her other aunt's apartment who couldn't make the funeral because she's working in Germany as a carer. She goes in a minibus there and it's a 12 hour drive without the drop-offs. Lol

Moving anywhere is a trade off I would imagine……

The calculation imho is always:

Do the things you value outweigh the things you don’t like ?
It ain’t always about the money……if you’re chasing money you have to go where money is, trouble with that is that it’s often not the best place to actually live, raise kids, not be around madness or degradation.

If you want to live amongst ordinary people who look like you, broadly share your values, don’t behave like animals then you have to accept you may be financially poorer, you may not have a brand new Audi and all the bells and trinkets we associate with “doing well” in this shallow act we call the U.K…….but you may be richer than you could have dreamed of in every other regard.
Many U.K. people have Stockholm’s syndrome about the U.K…….if you can beat that, you can go anywhere and enjoy life

But the thing is, most of us in reality aren't really that affected by these issues if we are being honest. Granted, it could be just around the corner for any of us but the risks are still relatively very low.

You have to ask yourself, how is everyone else getting by ?…….because there is always ways and means.

Theres an English lad up the road to me, he is a lagger and just flys home when a contract comes along….works for a month or two on price and then that’s it, flys back and has 6 months off doing whatever he wants because his money gos so much further.

Europe is small, you can get round it as quick as you can commute into any major U.K. city

Of course you are affected, everyone is but it’s a question of “can you tolerate it?”
If you can and/or you like it then great, no reason to look anywhere else…..but if you can’t then it’s very doable as long as you are willing to make adjustments…..that’s all I’m saying.

I was on business in Poland, Posnan (spel ?) to be exact…..I thought it was lovely.

Clean, modern, industry all making and doing things from chairs to combine harvesters, historic, social in the town centre, felt safe….nice atmosphere all round.

Had one cabbie try his luck for a fare, but “f**k off” is a universal language and it never caused a problem.

Everything was cheap, Sterling went a long way when converted to Zloti….good all round from what I could see

That's where we flew to and been staying for the last few days. Her cousin and aunt live on the outskirts of Poznan, around 20 mins from the city centre. The city is lovely, didn't get to visit it this time but yes, you walk around with your kids without a worry whatsoever.

They are all from further north though, around 100 miles and 3 hour drive, I actually prefer it up there, better away from the hustle and bustle.

As for cheap, some things are and some things aren't, you get a lot more bang for your buck with essentials like food, but things like clothes, electronics, cars, all very expensive relatively speaking.

I would move there no doubt, but the language barrier is the biggest obstacle, if I was really serious about moving I'd have to really knuckle down and get my head screwed on, not sure I have enough remaining grey matter for that at 40+ lol.

Don’t know if it’s warm there at the moment but they had a lovely cafe/bar/arts area by the river there…..really nice, good mixture of people of all ages, family's, all sitting and enjoying food and music.

As for language, you get by, everyone speaks English and you soon pick stuff up…..
