ryaldinhio 5,132
Do you keep the bucks seperate in hutches and only out them in when needed for breeding? I had read that for colony style could leave the buck in there with them all the time?

WataWalloper 3,238
When I was a kid I can remember film keeping rabbits up the plotts for meat, they used to have a round or hexagon shape run, that was split into swctions like a pie, buck rabbit in middle of circle an then he could get to what ever peice of pie he was meant to to mate with the doe’s, think that’s why it was shaped that way I was only young haha

How do you find it? Seeing that makes me want to do it!!!

Every 10 days we check the hives take queen cell out look for eggs , look in honey box if all most full add honey box on keep bees busy stops them swarming , you just leave bees to it rest of time , there's alot to learn but you can only learn by getting some hives in an giving it a go , you get alot of honey from one honey box with good summer thay can fill box up fast
ryaldinhio 5,132
R lass is away so I was incharge of the menu for myself. Pork chop, 2 lamb chops, mini crackling and fresh colli from the garden. Doubled up so got snap for tomorrow ready. That was home grown pork, local lamb traded for home grown pork, home grown colli. So pretty much 'self sufficient' meal if you include trading with like minded people I.e. not bought from a shop (which I do). Bloody lovely. The chops are amazing. I've never like pork chops but chops from traditional breeds are next level

Probably getting some at end of July with a view to them going Oct/Nov time. I do like tamworths. That's what I always wanted from day dot. Our first ones were tamworth cross.
