Thanks Gnash, good honest info on this sport, as you say it not just size and power to be good at this sport.
Welsh_red 5,096
I used to watch a lot of a show called swamp people . Was trash tv but kept my interest due to the fact it was alligator hunting . A guy on there R J Molinare was a native Indian guy who is supposedly a arm wrestling champion . Any idea @gnasher16 on what level we was internationally ? Im curious as it was claimed he was a champion but that could mean anything. IE wrexham are league champions but nowhere near man city level

walshie 2,804
I don't really understand the technical aspect but I enjoy watching it. We went to Poland a couple of years back to see the World Championships. Great atmosphere. Larratt and Brzenk weren't there for whatever reason that year, but there were some real monsters. Levan is possibly the biggest man I've ever seen. 180kg. He's imposing way before he gets to the table. Denis Cyplenkov was injured at the time but did a guest appearance. His top half looked like a tracksuit top with joke hands about 3 times the size of normal coming out of the sleeves.

It looks a great sport probably a daft question but what sort of training do they do gnasher I guess weights n forearm but what else, they must be born strong tho as no matter how much training they do they've either got it or not? I'm surprised to see people still going strong in there later years you would think there would be alot of injuries for them..
Welsh_red 5,096
It's amazing, I reckon 99% of men have had arm wrestles before , their mates in pubs , with their dad or their kids , in school when young or in work with colleagues . Everybody has got the basic grasp of what happens . Obviously only the fans of it no the intricacies and styles etc , and it's never taken off on TV whereas that stupid Powerslap League has got UFC backing and has major airtime on the Internet yet everybody I've spoken to about it says how stupid it is . I reckon of UFC marketed it right they could make arm wrestling a major thing . Its a sport you can do at any time with anyone and (touch wood) nobody gets seriously Hurt . With all the tactics and small bits that make a champion it has a good learning curve for everybody to get into I reckon it could easily become massive if it was marketed well . My dad and his generation might not be into UFC or powerslap but I'm sure if their was arm wrestling on tv on a Saturday night he would be watching
