I payed £300( mates rates) just for a plumber to sweat up 2 copper pipes off the boiler and up inside the opposite wall for a new shower/bathroom and plumb a radiator a few weeks back...I had a quote for 3k just for the labour to fit the full bathroom suite and I supply and pay for materials on top...f***ing chancers....so fitted it myself

I 'll try again.

For the purpose of clarity and absolute undiluted  fact, I paid a decent price because I did a deal with the chap to 'massage" his estimate to show that the job took only one hour. It took longer, but I   bunged him fifty quid for his own pocket. We lefties may like to think of ourselves as justice warriors but we don't include ordinary blokes in our desire to make society fairer  or work ourselves over for that matter. I've done a fair  it of wheeling and dealing since I started work at 13. It's part of having respect for yourself and not accepting what 'the man' says all the time.

A few years back  when I checked, 7% of Scotlands population owned 84% of the wealth. It will be similar in the rest of the UK I guess. Wealth inequality and inequality has grown rapidly in this country, far  more than in other comparable countries. It's a stitch up. The right wing press don't tell you about how their mates grab all the goodies and that the people who make the goodies and provide essential services  are  taken the piss out of. All the media is owned by billionaires who filter and distort the news. Its their way of controlling us. You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to believe this. We have an extremely high rate of child poverty in this country. That is a political decision. Many people work but have to claim state benefits and queue in food banks. That should not happen. Our people have a much lower standard off living than in comparable European industrialised  countries. We are having the piss taken big time.

Unfortunately when you point these things out, you get lots of people who will put up a spirited and impassioned defence of the system ..you being one of them.

You've convinced yourself the blacks are at the bottom of every problem in British society. But they are pawns in the game. Imported for cheap labour. Rather than blame them, blame the people who created the problems, the ultra wealthy and their servants, the politicians . When I pointed out that Johnston and Farage had CAUSED the boat people problem. Not one THL member said I was fundamentally wrong. Because I wasn't.  There were no boat people  before 2018. The  stupidity of Farage and Johston  and their  careless incompetence  in cancelling the Dublin agreement meant immigrants arriving on small, boats could  not be immediately sent back. So instead of surrounding immigrant hotels why not surround their houses and vehemently protest at their lies and deceit? And whist doing so, they might want to surround the houses of dozens of other politicians who, for example, led us into the gulf wars where many of our young men died for nothing and others like Blair and Co who allowed millions and millions of economic migrants to enter the UK and put so much pressure on wages, the NHS,   housing and education. Protest about the cause not the effect.

It's not about car scratching or petty jealousy or reporting somebody working on the side as you always suggest in a somewhat snidey, underhand way. It's seeing people made poorer and poorer. You got it now old chap?1

My mate fitted my double glazing for free , and it cost me 3k in beer afterwards .

I always wonder why most b*****ds on a job/ site extension earn more than me????? I just can’t bring myself to charge that kind of dollar, they turn up late, then it’s cafe time, then they leave early.  If your charging too money you have to put the graft in or it leaves a bad feeling between the person paying

These days I charge a set day rate ,it changes depending on what I'm doing,if I need a labourer then I charge accordingly...and I'm flat out busy, limit myself to 3 days a week ,I got no overheads,fancy vehicles or tools on tick...got a single storey extension coming up,I will do everything bar the electric and gas, from the ground up,then I will be dropping the existing ceilings in the main house 200/300 mm,so I can fit 2 rooms and a bathroom in the attic space,house will then be 7/8 bedrooms depending on the lay out...I will be 10/15 k cheaper than using a building firm,and all the  different trades..I will get my rate and make a good drink on top...and the work will still continue to come in....I will never work on another building site ,so long as I got a hole in my arse,my days of carrying every cnut are gone...when I give my word,it's getting done, regardless of  what's in the way....Im happy to do the lot myself,then I know it's done properly because I hate having to rely on anyone else
