Open Or Closed? (Artistic Perspective)

So, my Bullfrog tank is going to have This as its back drop (Courtesy of Willem Proos of www.travel-pictures-gallery.com :signthankspin:)

What I'll then need to do is to make the front diorama, to somehow blend on from that. And contain a real water area for froggyo. Of course, he'll need some land too. Right now though, I'm just pondering the most very basic elements.

Should I make a 'pond' effect / hole in his 'ground'? Or, should we be looking straight Into his water, from the front of the tank? Very roughly, like below:

What's anyone else think, please? I'm completely undecided.Haven't even had the time to give it a great deal of thought yet. Figured I'd just see what a completely random bunch of unconnected souls might think.

Forgive my ignorance Ken but is that actually classed as a Vivarium ?.....i know you have your background picture and im not entirely understanding what a diorama is but i just wondered if you had seen these resin 3d backgrounds you can get now some of them are really effective, great for a natural look to any aquarium/vivarium type thing.

Don't want to put a dampener on your enthusiasm, but what is the average lifespan of your type of frog, kd, you might need to get a bit of a shift on?

Shaaark; Being as these things have lived anything up to Forty Fukking Years, in captivity? I think the only reason I need to get a shift on is if I'm to be around long enough to get my moneys worth out of it all!

Yeah ..... Not meaning to split hairs, Gnash'. But, what I'm doing is, strictly, termed a Terrarium. (Paludarium, at a pinch?) Even I don't know what the dividing line is ? Basically that we tend to keep reptiles in Vivarium's. Terraria tend to be more vegetation oriented and hold amphib's. That's the gist of it, anyway.

But, yeah, I've looked at all the commercially available stuff. Always seems to be very rock / desert / lizard / snake / bearded dragon leaning :(

I think it swings the other way, with most 'frog' boys. Because they tend to Make their own backgrounds / dioramas (Diorama is like a little representation of a place. Think Taxidermists display cases and military model bod's). Usually incorporating a shit ton of living plants too. Effects are fukking mind blowing, of course!

But, for one reason and another; Fukk That! I'm doing my best on a work around. (Simple truth is; His actual, native environment wouldn't be That glorious anyway. Plus, he's a lump and would wreck most stuff, on the rare occasion he actually moved his arse!)

So, yeah. Basically, somewhere, wet, he can sit. The rest is for My (eyes) benefit.

NOoooooo!!!! I'm an 'all or nothing' kind of guy. I don't fukk about! :D

Frog lives in my room, mate. Part of the furniture. Might as well make his shit look as nice as I can. He couldn't give a shit. But, I have to look at the damn thing for the rest of my days.

Toads place is quite nice too :) Got a lovely, commercially available, paper background for his tank Nice, dark shot of ivy, growing up old wood. Lovely,. it it. Ye know how good it is because the mind doesn't even question it. It just Looks right.

That's what we aim for

Does froggy have a red pen???!

Lol I need some fresh air, I'm imagining all sorts of scenarios where 'froggy' climbed out of his 'lodgings', on the sly, obviously, and ticked the 2nd picture!!  ?

Being serious though, and of course I do not know how much time, trouble and expense may be going into the production of the front dirama, but is it going to be a decision made in stone? Never to be changed? I was in similar predicament myself recently when buying my 1st ever curtains. Blue or beige? I bought both, hung the blue and didn't like them. Put the beige up and they look a lot better. Gave the blue curtains to my sister as an early birthday present. She and her husband did not seem too impressed but it is the thought that counts and I will always ring before I visit to give them time to put them up.

Forty years....that might not be long enough if you decide to build something to box the fckin tank in.
