jukel123 9,416
Well, Mrs Sunak has decided she will pay the tax after all and declare herself resident in the UK. It's reckoned Johnston and his aides found out about the Sunaks tax arrangements and released the story. They are scared Sunak will challenge for the premiership. It is certainly strange the story emerged on the very week workers have to cough up more tax via National Insurance contributions. It's thought she has avoided £20 million in total. Will her tax bill be backdated or will she just pay this year's? Think it might be the latter.

Lol It's the principle Wilf. As CP says "Tax is a very necessary obligation". Who knows maybe her may herself might be persuaded to stop hiding her wealth away in foreign tax havens. I wait with baited breath. Edited April 9, 2022 by jukel123
chartpolski 27,897
If every individual, company and corporation, ( Starbucks, Amazon etc ?), who evade, avoid U.K. tax paid their fair share, who knows, maybe we would, just maybe, see a difference. As for the Sunaks, what is it about his job that means they are willing to pay up another £20 million in taxes and suffer the opprobrium they are now suffering ? They are, in anyone's estimation, mega rich, if it were me I'd have handed my resignation in to Boris, and be on the earliest flight to our Californian mansion by now ! He must realise he has absolutely no chance of becoming Prime Minister now. Cheers.
WILF 49,992
Lads the tax take has never been so big in history…..do you see your country getting better ? Obligation ?…….5% of income is an obligation, the rest is theft for playing around with. Edited April 9, 2022 by WILF
jukel123 9,416
CP, I'm not sure about your last point. people forget very quickly. Why would anybody want to be a politician ? Because there's something about power and influence which intoxicates them. Anybody who wants to stand as a politician should immediately be excluded. I'm guessing you and Jukel are referring to Sunak never becoming Prime Minister ? Its not the electorate that will stop him.......it's the Tory Party that will. Hes now toxic with them as far as popularity goes. No, they won't let it happen, its an open goal for the Labour Party. I can just see Starmer on Sky News ; " The Tories want a tax evader to be your Prime Minister" ! Theyll pick someone who's shady dealings aren't so public. Cheers.
