Kanny??? Is This Cut Possible?!?

Recommended Posts

:icon_eek: Alright; My mind's just in total melt down here. This is like something out of the fukking Esher school of tormenting wood work projects! It just doesn't seem possible. But, it obviously is ..... Isn't it?

Christ! I can't even look at the photo any more! It's a head wreck! What the Fukk do I take out of the upright, to make it blend in with the 45 angle of the horizontal??? Is there a way?

Thanks!

Smithie; Close enough for the illustration, mate, yeah :) I've just slung the two bits together(ish) to demonstrate the basic issue.

Like, I figured out that, if I took the upright and did the same bevel to that? .......... Fukk! Nope. Just can't get my head round it. It's like a visual / mental disconnection. I'm staring at it. But, it's just not going in ?

Is it a frame your putting in an opening?

:icon_eek: Shit!!! It's a frame to hold window shutters. The shutters are to hang inside the frame. Bevelled along the bottom to fit against that cross pieces bevel.

:wallbash: Should I not just butt joint the frame then? How the Fukk am I supposed to hide the ends of the cross pieces bevel???

Don't worry. I have Loads of 2 x 2!!!

It's not that hard to work out mate (not trying to be a smartarse btw)stop looking at it and thinking about it ,give it a couple of hours ,have another look and you will see it .

I think I just saw it, mate ? As above. Squared ends. I think it would be physically impossible to make shit in such a way that the bottoms of the shutter planks (Did I say it's window shutters?) would somehow fit into and cover any corner cut outs on the uprights.

You need to project your angles, the difference in width of the timbers is throwing you off, youll need to use a bevel and get your bottom and side angles 1st then draw that onto a piece of paper then measure both widths of timber and draw those on inside the angles you got then where both lines intersect you draw a lice through the intersections and you have youe angles and they will be different 45 degrees and a perfect fit

Truly appreciate the effort there, Len. But, seriously, ye'd might as well have explained that to a rock!

I've gone with simply butting the uprights in. In fact, I'm down to agonising over the precise width of the 'Shutter' boards now.

That's another Huge fukking headache, for me. My mind just doesn't work like yours probably does. (Saying that? I'm a notorious 'Over Thinker', these days. Dunno why)

But, having struggled so monumentally with a task, my satisfaction at an acceptable and working result will leave me glowing ;)
