My youngest has been showing all the signs of her third season, even having my dog going off his breakfast for a week and chattering his teeth like a crack addict going cold turkey whenever near her. 10 days later. Feck all. A bitch she runs with recently came into season and has taken pups, so thought she may have kick started her, but nearly 2 weeks later, were back to normal. Found it quite odd so thought to ask. Tia. Had a similar sort of thing last year my lurcher dog was all over the bitch wouldn't leave her side for 5 days. No swelling spotting or nothing, about 4 weeks later she come into a full season. He's doing the same at the moment but she's showing no signs of being or coming in Quote Link to post

She just won't submit to any dog. I think she's a one off dog and I'm happy with that. when there like that, you got to muzzle her, and hold her very tight, you need couple blokes to help you with her . when i had bullmastiffs, as i won best male bullmastiff at crufts , and best bullmastiff at a show before that, i had lot of people wanting to use my male dog. well we had this one bitch who was bang in to season think it was 14 day, lifting her tail, and all swollen up. well this bitch not having any dog by her no chance, she was powerful bullmastiff bitch, well we muzzle her, and took me and 2 blokes to hold her , she like lioness growling lol . anyway we got the mating got a tie, and got 9 pups from her, alot went to Germany, France as guard dogs , this was in the 80s. if you really wan pups from any bitch, sometimes you have to a human intervention to get it to work, i remember in the 60s we cracking staff bitch 16 in 45 lb, a bloke by me had staff dog 19 in 50lb , more like a apbt of today , we tried the old way just putting the dogs together 4-5 days let them to it, no pups bloody shame they make great staffs , anyway we learned from that lesson, dont leave thing to chance , you have to intervene somtimes deff 1 1 Quote Link to post

Seriously! A brush shank held under the bitch's belly to stop her sitting down. Piece of string tied to her tail to pull it out of the way of the business end. A muzzle and a strong bloke to put her in a head lock. If you are serious about it you can usually get a mating. 1 Quote Link to post

As you can imagine I'm dreading the day if she makes old age I have to have her PTS. She's just a one off dog I feel, being a mongrel lurcher so I don't think I'll bother breeding. I swear the bloody dog is almost human, lol. 1 Quote Link to post
