I tried to look up how much 'Help for Heroes' Chief exec earns. Info not available.

FFS, just fund squaddies so that they have the best of gear when fighting and are properly looked after in civvy street.

Except Stiffmeister . He's always on here when he should  be protecting us.?

My old man went over with the BEF and got captured fighting rearguard so that blokes could get off the beach at Dunkirk.

5 years nearly in Stalag VIII b and then the Lamdorf death march before finally being picked up by the yanks.

Flown home wounded after being blown up by a land mine which killed his pal who he had gone through the camp with.

He flat out refused to buy a poppy.

I remember some old boy coming round and saying he may be entitled to a medal, the old man told him to shove his medals up his arse and f****d him off.

I personally don’t have anything against buying a poppy and I think it’s quiet nice to see people of all ages displaying them.

I used to get them for my kids when they were little and tell them about a bit of history.

That was his choice but seeing your video reminded me of it.

I've bought them in the past and attended Armistice Day events.  But lately I've  begun to feel its a bit of 'a holier than thou exercise.' People shouldn't be judged on whether they choose to wear poppy or not.

It's proper that we remember the fallen, but I don't like the idea of charities being involved. As I say squaddies should be valued and rewarded without the involvement of charities. I have members of my family who fought in different conflicts, but successive governments did not reward them. They died in poverty. I bet your dad would have appreciated a proper pension instead of a medal.

It’s all become part of the virtue signalling to go with all the other virtue signalling.

Gnasher wrote something yesterday about him talking with his pal about Christianity and how if you feel it in your heart and broadly crack on like that then you are a Christian.

Well, same with all this stuff imho, you can honour these people every day in how you act, how you treat your own, how you portray yourself in the world, what you contribute to your community.

As I always bore the pants off people saying, being what you want your society to be.

At the minute, I don’t think nearly enough people do that.

Sounds a bit soft I know but as I've got older I've learned to be nicer to people. People in the past have been good to me and I've never forgotten. It's nice to be nice, makes you feel better, and the person on the receiving end. Some people will take advantage but just write them off.

I know I regularly come across as some kind of weirdo but I have been having some lively discussion about these protestors the last couple of week and people couldn’t quiet seem to figure out why I wouldn’t lay hands on old people for holding me up a bit.

Id say it’s a perfect example of how I think, proper people don’t lay hands on old folks imho….I’d like to think that’s the type of society these blokes fought for.

Maybe it isn’t ? and maybe it is ?…..but it’s the world I want.

All said and done it’s them people v the government and I know for sure which one of them has betrayed those mens legacy and is my enemy.

But it’s as simple as a quick friendly chat with the checkout girl or going and getting involved with some local group.

Ripples mate…..

As I say, just the bizarre way I look at the world.

No one gets looked after more than squaddies mate believe me .

it’s just sometimes you can lead a horse to water . ….

I am the personal development lead In my unit . Iast month I sent out a link for a free project management course based on the SCRUM model.

about 15 people took me up on a 192 quid free course . As it meant about 5 hrs work in their lives and own time.

I did it in my lunch hour for two days.

these people can’t help themselves at times . It’s honestly infuriating.

Lots of defective gear supplied in Afghanistan and Iraq though Stiff. Armoured vehicles which weren't fit for purpose and had their underneaths blown out regularly, leading to God awful injuries. Weren't their mine detectors which simply didn't work?  The number of ex squaddies sleeping rough surely points to a lack of joined up thinking when guys go back into civvy Street. If you go right back to the redcoats, they felt society  loved them when there was a war on but shunned them in civvy Street. Jmho.

Next week I have been asked to deliver a development day to the jnco cohort on camp . 200 ish people .

ive sat into the night  and made powerpoints based on official leadership doctrine

read and re read a book inside out , photocopied the book” black hearts “ divided it into chapters with a question set for each chapter , 27 in total .

booked classrooms , built a model , devised a seating plan and lead speakers in a main events list.

built a syllabus around the role of the strategic corporal , pushing the onus of ethos , identity , ownership , development all in an informal environment of their peers to build their public speaking skills with the presentation of their question set findings .

it will start at 1030 instead of 8 as we can’t cancel the physical training that day.

the knock on effect of that is that we will finish at about 1830ish .

1030 till half six , for one day on camp . A Thursday.

In between my prep for this i have juggled attending an exercise last minute  , childcare over half term , my kids after school activities , my sons education health care plan , my wives 2 job hours , my roles in work as troop sgt , building custodian ,fire snco ,  mess committee member ,  training snco , applying to retain my quarter on a long term course at the other end of the country .
my mother in law’s transition from her place in a mental health ward to a care home .my wives cat has also given birth to 5 kittens who have sadly all passed over the last 4 days , (kittens Just die , there’s f**k all you can do really , but telling a little girl that is almost impossible )  I was also in a function last night at work , and am currently in the couch as my wife ain’t speaking to me ,

This morning , I was informed by two jncos that they can’t attend the day “ as they have an all you can eat Chinese booked that night”

what’s the f***ing point ?
