Big Ted.

Recommended Posts

I've always struggled to get geese with a muzzleloader and be legal at the same time!

Steel is a joke in a muzzleloader,  not  enough velocity really.

Then one day in summer my local had a choked Pedersoli 10g double so I snapped it up.

He also had some old Kent 12g cartridges loaded with #3 TM, so I got them too.

A good friend got me under some flighting geese and around 50g of shot got one goose per barrel at about thirty yards plus.

The next outing was not so good but I had some good fortune.

The geese saw me and so turned meaning my friend and his son stood no chance. I on the other hand had to wait for the very last bird of the skien for a chance. The first barrel at 40yds or so missed. I pushed the barrels through and well forward and the second barrel crumpled the bird dead in the air, it came down nearly 100yd away! It must of been  a 50yd shot with a muzzleloader!

We got my friends son a duck later on and ironically big Ted missed two easy ducks ?.

Big thanks to Tom and his son.

Anyway I've been eating goose meatloaf for a couple of weeks now and it was ?

A little  more on the gun.

It dosnt matter what I load it with, it flat out shoots.

Yeah it’s a teckel dog, got him off a keeper who’s been building his own line up!

he uses his on the shoot and good with the fox’s too?

looking forward to hearing about you catchin up with the fox?

I was watching a video of some dogs baying a pig in brash, they would not go in though.

Then comes bounding in a teckel and straight into the brash pile it goes, all he'll breaks loose and the large pig is ejected by a tiny dog. Lol.

My mate who now keepers a shoot in Northumberland breeds them , and works them to fox . He has got one or two to work to heel like a Labrador. But most of them are like hounds and get on a scent and are gone .??

He used to have a pack of Teckles turn up and join up with his and we used to have fox drives . They all had trackers on and it was great fun and productive.
He imported a stud dog from the Ukraine recently, that is a very good earth dog . They have all got great noses .
