Yep unfortunately a lot of the cheap has gone due to BBQ fads etc brisket is premium, still deals to be had but oxtail and alike are big bucks for anything meaty in size. Since my butcher shut shop I've started using a local farm shop , think it'll save me about a third going forward. Good times.

I,m quite lucky I have an abattoir a mile up the lane and he has three local shops, the one with the slaughter house is full of Jamaicans every Saturday morning buying up all the oxtail,goat meat cows feet etc, they spend a fortune but like you say pushes it up for everyone, though the beef skirt is still only a £5 a kilo short ribs £10 so still better than many

Daughter and her chap are making kebabs today think it’s drinks at mine later so I’ve done some pork belly bites on the stove covered in jerk seasoning smoked paprika and brown sugar over a tray of garlic laced water to keep it moist then a quick crisp under the grill later
