Ken's Deputy 4,463
Got someone who's been banging on about 'paying me' for some simple, spoken advisory information I gave them. Literally over the phone. They called again, by mutual agreement, last night. As much for a chat, for chats sake, as anything. However, they started on about remunerating me, again. I'm trying to, politely as can be, decline. They're insisting as hard. " Amazon " was uttered and Bang! They realized they could send me a fukking Amazon Gift Card! Can they? They have my home email addy. The one attached to my amazon account. I once wanted to send one to a mate. All it took was his addy. What happens? If they send me anything? Am I fukk gonna accept it! But; Does amazon give me a fukking choice? Does it say " X has sent you Y. Accept / Decline. " Or does it just say; 'X has put Y on your account. There it is. Boom! Like a cheque ye can rip up. But, it'll always be hanging over the senders account. Anyone up on these things, please?

Jonjon79 13,358
It sounds like they want to do something nice in return for the help you've given them. Accept it and say thank you.
chartpolski 28,549
Refusing a gift in some societies can be highly offensive. If they insist, accept, buy something you WANT, not NEED, send them a thank you and move on. Cheers.
kanny 21,756
Get them to PayPal you the money if they're that insistent, trust nobody you dont truly know online, could be a scam, are they Indian on the phone?
Ken's Deputy 4,463
Sorry, lads. But, I just happen to have an extremely old and deep seated aversion to accepting shit. Never mind the details. But, yes, I've lost friends over it before now. Can't change my own, deep rooted principles, just because someone on line says someone else might get the hump. Kanny; They're absolutely for real. No worries on that score. If anyone should know the score with amazon gift cards? That'd be nice.
BEARINATOR 2,924
They can send you the code and you type it in at checkout
Ken's Deputy 4,463
Cheers, Bear. So, presumably, if anyone sends me any codes? I can just delete the fukking thing and get on with my life? Nothing ever leaves their bank account? Cool.
Chid 6,844
They pay for the gift card there and then .. so if they send you one they've already paid for it
