I'll have to look into it, just to be sure. But, fukk yeah! What could be simpler - and cheaper! And, a good, flesh filled maggot's got to be a world ahead of a mealworm fed with carrot. Cheers, Dan. I'll have a dig about. Look into the possibilities of this Builders bucket, pigs liver, fine mesh

dytkos 17,942
I'm about £7 a week on the feeders with the live mealworms, seeds, fat balls, peanuts, suet pellets but get an amazing (to me) mix of birds. Well worth it Cheers, D.
Ken's Deputy 4,462
Right then. Maggots; Google has been wrecked. I've searched everywhere, read every opinion. Finally I took the option to 'Phone A Friend'. And Allen came through for me! I won't bother regurgitating all the answers, opinions and experiences the internet drags up. Allen is a professional supplier of cage bird requisites. He sells " Frozen Pinkies ". Maggots that people pay dearly for. So their prized show birds can stuff their own hatchling chicks with. Nuff said? And, I asked him how come? He explained - as I've seen said on the net - you have to let the maggots clean themselves first. It's the black spot, visible in the maggot. That's its last meal. That's rotten meat. That's where the Botulism hides! So, yeah: Breed those muvva's like a corpse. But, put them in clean sawdust till they've shit! Loose the black spot. All I need now is a fukking blow fly!
