Yeah looks like I'll be climbing off your mum again in these holidays ?

I’m working nights Christmas Eve Christmas Day and Boxing Day and also New Year’s Eve and New Years day I’ve copped the lot this year but I’m determined next year to be on a beach in the Caribbean.

Last day tomorrow, tip up, show my face, full breakfast in cafe, back in the house for 10am...

Roster woman messaged me today to ask if I could work this Saturday night, like a prick I've agreed.

After the young un is born I think I'm seriously going to fcuk the railway off.

Yes it may be good money and boy do we need it but surely there's more to life than giving your weekends and family time up.

That's all I've done since 18 pal, I've had a little spell away but that's about it.

I don't mind the graft tbh but giving my weekends up is starting to grate on me.

Some folk love it still as it does have it's perks.

Maybe I'm after the impossible but I'm thinking of looking elsewhere that gives you a better social life balance.

How difficult is it to get on with NWR?

Any links or details for the job?

If your external you have to apply through the NWR website MIO is mobile incident officer which is part of the EIU emergency intervention unit I’m not sure if they are nation wide but definitely south east the southern and London areas.

There are tests psychometric ect but mainly common sense and how you handle yourself in stressful situations ect.

That sounds more interesting than the civil works we are doing.

Half the time all we are doing is safety critical work for subbies.

I'll keep looking on their website but heard it's difficult to get on unless you know people who work there.

My uncle works for NWR on the OLE but completely different sector.
