Greyman 32,587
Just came down the m5 on my way home and the air smells like burning wire speed restrictions on the motorway and people being told to shut doors and windows, luckily the wind is blowing it away from me but just up the road you can barely see, Ben told it’s a big scrapyard on the dock that exports metal, fire brigade recon they can’t stop it and will have to let it burn itself out

Meece 1,958
Locally, it is news but these things happen and dont even make it onto the local evening news. The other week one of the daughters was visiting and had a call from her husband not to come home because there was a massive fire in a yard near the main a28 and the channel tunnel train line near the centre of Ashford. There was a massive pall of black smoke from burning tyres and industrial stuff. The whole yard had gone up. The fire brigade were there for several days. Not a mention at all on any news platform. It had the significance of a back garden bonfire.

hambone 950
Could smell it on the m4 just before the bridge (westbound) after work. Cant see why it would be still burning if only "clean steel"
