A gift from an old boy

I bumped into a lad I’ve not seen for a long time, now this old boy was out every day and night feeding the family, He’s well in his 70’s now and no longer shoots and as he no longer has a ticket he said would I take some cartridges for him, so I’ve been round to see him and apart from one box they are all paper, we have eley Grand Prix in 4’s and 5’s, eley impax in 5’s and another called the sherwood loaded by west and son, 10 bridge street Retford, the plastic ones are old as well “ topmark game 1 1/16 oz of number 6, he wants to see them put to good use so I’m taking a young lad from the shoot out this afternoon to have a go with them, hopefully we can bring him something back for his dinner

Yeah going to give them a go, they are hammering a rape field, the banger worked for a couple of days, now they are landing on it

Lad in my shop uses loads of old cartridges for testing guns after they’ve been fettled.. he gets loads of old stuff in when the old boys fall off there perches

More like that here David. Have two fields farmers not been able to drill so just broadcast seed, should be pigeon mecca, yet hardly a bird about. Got butcher texting me desperate for some pigeons!

The old impax is a fave of mine. I remember topmark. Them old shells will be just fine.

Not to good mate, there’s a fair few places that have ploughed some of the winter drilling’s back in because of water damage and beetle, now what’s left the pigeons are hammering

They worked just fine, when we got there the farmers lad had been banging away for a couple of hours so we left him where he was ( where we wanted to be ) and headed off down the forestry blocks, managed a few woodies and a squizzer so definitely worth a walk out
