My wife's grandfather was a great poitín maker here. When the missionaries came and made everyone give up their stills. They were brought out to the local church to be broken up and burnt. Well he and his brother brought theirs out, got forgiveness from the priest and went on their way. That night they went back, took their still back and dumped in the lake. A couple of days later the remaining still were broken and burnt. My wife's grandfather got his out of the lake, started up again. He's was the only one left for miles around.
