Sausagedog 7,381
...turned out damp! Again!! I took the easy option gun wise, Hatistani. I have been meaning to test it since my modifications! It would occasionally hang up on 67 mm cases so I studied the action and noticed the cartridge lifter may of been kicking the cartridge up in such a way the front of the cartridge could just catch the rim recess in the barrel and hold the action open. The front end of the lifter just needed the folds spreading a fraction. Well today there was no hang ups at all . Put three timber doodles up but only got one shot and missed at that! Two woodies, two crows, three squirrels and one pheasant. I missed a woodcock, two crows. On the next farm a local shoot was shooting. The wind carried the voices of the beaters. I enjoyed hearing them. My legs got wet from the thick bramble in the coverts but I was dry thanks to my Barbour and t¥@t hat! For a miserable wet day I did ok and got my fat gut over five miles of rough terrain lumping a 7lb+ gun around and I fasted so happy days SD. 8 Quote Link to post

si brown 8,486
you've done well to get out sd... its been bloody awful over our way! dont know about quads or feet but I recon the best mode of transport for us would be a mini hovercraft or uni-moggy you'll be like a racing snake soon with the temp dropping down and all the miles your racking up... that mixed bag will make for an interesting meatloaf 1 Quote Link to post

Stavross 18,446
Good on you for getting out, the weathers looking decent over the weekend up here, we need a few days for the water to get away, some of the roads I’ve been down today were under 12” of water and it’s just run off from the fields 1 Quote Link to post
Meece 1,958
The spaniel has asked for two pairs of wellies. I took her out yesterday afternoon and considering the amount of rain that has fallen it wasn't bad at all. Ok the gateways were a bit sticky and there was odd puddles of surface water in odd places but overall It was pretty reasonable. Many times I have seen a lot more water going down the stream in the wood. Today it is bright and sunny so I'll get the deck chair out later. 1 Quote Link to post
Sausagedog 7,381
Today was much better. From first light to 3pm I hunted and this time with a frontstuffer . Fasted for 18 hours today too. Knackered now though and the granddaughter and Mrs are about to turn up . Think I'm going to have this rabbit to myself SD. 2 1 Quote Link to post
