Tullylish Working Terrier Club Dog Show and Race Day Sunday 29thJuly 18

Deep in the heart of the picturesque County Down countryside, with its magnificent scenery, lies the beautiful town land of Tullylish. This picturesque setting sits on the River Bann, and contains the villages of Gilford, Laurencetown, and Bleary.

This was the venue for the Tullylish Working Terrier Club Dog Show and Race day  Sunday 29thJuly 18.   For a day that started raining down in buckets in other parts of Northern Ireland, Tullylish did not have a drop of rain.

We were blessed with the weather for a change, and the Gods were definately looking down on us. The sun shone all day as the Canine men, women and their little folk arrived in force with their prized Canine crew in tow. From my own observation, over the past couple of years our doggie shows have become real family days out, and Sunday was no different.

This was very evident by the turnout on the day, of how popular this annual event is. There was just a lovely homely atmosphere, good craic, and a few chin whacks with the good folk of the Canine community. This is what our dog shows are about, and this did happen at Tullylish last Sunday.

This year there were five show rings which was brilliant thinking by the club. It brought in Terrier/Lurcher/Whippet/Bull Cross/ and Strong dog men and women from all parts of the country. Every year this show goes from strength to strength, and this year was no different.

There was a burger and ice cream van on site. Little Riley Mc Cormack and Mairead Fearons two little boys, Thomas and Ruairi and Heidi Mc Alinden had a ball between the burger van and ice cream van. These little people are our huntsmen and women of to morrow, so we need to take care of them at our shows and lead by example. They are four we characters in their own right and lovely children. They just play around all day and give nobody any trouble. Some tired we people on Sunday night.

There was a good turnout of Terriers/Lurchers/Whippets/Bull Cross and Strong Dogs. With the five rings on the go, Tullylish Dog show was certainly buzzing with the sound of barking dogs.

Time passes so quickly, it was soon time to start on the menu for the day.The coursing started at approx 12.00 noon, followed by the showing and straight racing afterwards.

Here are the Results. Hope I got them all right.

Big Congratulations to all above winners, and also to every one who took part. You are all winners in my eyes.

And finally the day would not be complete without thanking the Judges on the day.

Whippets: Margaret Mc Stay

Lurchers : Ian Davison

Terriers :   Justin Hill

Strong Dogs : Stevie Barriskell

Bull Cross :    Mark Duffy

NI Champion of Champions : Lurchers/Justin Hill

NI Champion of Champions : Terriers/ Paul Mc Alinden

Judging is not an easy job, but you all carried out your remit on the day with  integrity.

Many thanks to my little helper in the the ring Brooke Rafferty. What would I have done without you. You are a brilliant Sporting young lady and thank you so much for your help.

And Finally, Finally, I always leave the best to last. Yes John Barry and Paul Mc Alinden, you and your back up team are simply the best. You run your show  with impeccable organisation and skill. It was very evident a lot of preparation went on behind the scenes to make this show a most enjoyable day for everyone. All events went without a hitch, and some very happy people went home with another nice trophy for the mantle piece.

John and Paul, you are both two gentlemen, and  honest and true sportsmen. Thank you both, and the Tullylish Working Terrier Club for another top class show this year, and hopefully we can enjoy more of the same again in 2019.

Margaret a family day out are you having a laugh, why don't you tell the  truth about what really

happen at the show, o you cant forgot it for alberts magazine.

well I will tell them, Dessie Mackin stabbed  Billy Craig in the neck & hand

because he beat him in the terrier pups plus he beat him at scarva game fair aswell

and mackin new girlfriend was slabbing to billy at both shows trying to start fights.

When billy left the show to go to hospital mackin sent police after him saying he was drinking and driving

when police stop billy it all came back clear but they took billy to police station and kept him there till 11 oclock with his woman sitting out side it from 3 that afternoon in the car and dogs in trailer, poor woman was didn't know what was happen.

Then police went to Billys house and took his 2 guns because mackin said he was going to shot him wtf

This man Mackin and his girlfriend are a cancer to the dog show and need to be put out, and I hope the Jack Russell

club of GB see this, but most of all Albert needs to do something aswell, another man was told to stay away from this show

because mackin said he was going to stab him to, and your not going to believe this but he said the same thing to a man at a show in England last week in front of him that he was going to stab him when he was in the ring wtf.

So people don't let this man and woman get away with this our maybe at the next show someone will get killed.

So Margaret if you call that a good day for kids to see this, shame on you.

I know I will get put off here now because this site doesn't like the truth but people need to know, thank God

I never went who wants to see this with there kids.

Get them out and bar them from every show in Ireland & England.

Tut tut I see you never put Billys name up for winning terrier pups,

we know who your a scared of

I wish to make it clear to Marydoll - who it would appear to be a man masquerading again in 'women's clothing'  - that I had absolutely nothing to do with this alleged incident or indeed the show where it is alleged to have taken place. So I cannot for the life of me understand  why I should get a mention in his latest tirade.

Just like him I wasn't at the show and didn't see what happened  AND  unlike him  I don't operate on the basis of hearsay. or make  ill informed comments.

And of course  this could well be viewed as  the 'pot calling the kettle black.'!

Albert don't be coming off with your old daft talk trying to confuse people and justify what happen,

if it had of happen at your game fair you still say nothing about this man, anyone in there right mind

would condemned this behaviour, but no not you it all hear say and ill informed, waken up man

before someone get kill, we all know he part of your team at shanes castle and I think your in enough

trouble at the min with the Antrim council, him and this woman will be the down fall of shows.

As for being a man or woman writing this, it the truth and people should condemn  it not defend it.

I knew you come on here saying something stupid , but you don't like  the truth because it all facts

like the bitch in pups that died at your game fair, but am not on here to talk about that,

the pot calling the kettle black lol think of all the people who run you down, then you reward them,

you need your head look at, so you can go now and get me deleted of here,

but I say ne last thing it up to you to sort this all out and let all the shows come back together again

with this man and woman out of the way

Marydoll why don't you say what you have to say under your own name. Some Facts :

1. NO ONE involved in this alleged incident is part of our 'Game Fair team'

2. I am not in any trouble with Antrim Council

Now now Albert lets stop playing game about who I am ,

This post is not about me our you, but 2 friends of yours not mine

so if you think it ok for someone to get hurt at a show, then I have

nothing more to say to you on this alleged incident

I know two people allegedly involved in the alleged  incident but not the third who I understand has recently come to NI.  I have known both for several years but I am not close friends with either. One has helped on occasions with the racing at the fair, along with several other people who would not be considered 'part of the 'Game Fair team'. The other was helpful in suggesting and facilitating UK judges.

As I said I was not present at the event, where the alleged incident took place nor had I any connection with the event and like you I didn't see the incident. So i prefer not to speculate.

As YOU  should know very well,  I do not condone violence or the threats of violence at our events.

Am not on here to run Tullylish show down because there good men,

but Mackin was bar from this show for years and they  let him back in for the first

time and he ruined there show, so whats that tell you the man doesn't care what his does

because he has people scared of him, it time to stop this bullying end off

As you know these 2 men have being showing for about 30 years and you only know them 7 lol

Am sure they be happy reading this , that your not there friends no more.

As for the one recently came to NI, ask yourself why because she started fights in England at shows.

this is my last comment on this as am sure it will be took down and me put off here but who cares

about a 150 have seen this, so it up to them what they think about it all,

think hard about this Albert people might start liking you again . BYE

Marydoll I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but it’s nothing to do with Albert or the game fairs. However, what happened on Sunday cannot be condoned by any right minded person. It’s time everybody that runs a show stood up to bullies and cheats....... any kind of behaviour that involves threatening people, head butting people or going for somebody with scissors should be an automatic lifetime ban from any event that’s supposed to be a day out and a bit of craic. Decent people are fed up with this and it seems to me that some can get away with it time and time again. Enough is enough!

The Burren Charity Working Dog Show and Raceday Saturday 26th July 25   From the Pen of Margaret Mc Stay   As the clock on the wall jingled out its usual dulcet tones on Saturday morning, it signalled the start of a new day for us and another great sporting event on our country sports calendar. With Mrs Sat Nav being our guiding light along the way, and the beautiful Mourne Mountains following us enroute, very soon The Burren came into view and the dog show venue for the day. And what a venue that was. It was evident the amount of hard work the Burren Team had put into this show ground. It was in tiptop condition with six toilets on site, rings well spaced out and a superb racetrack with a very steep hill. And what a tester for our dogs this track was. With the sun shining down all day in abundance and a very large gathering of canine folk from North and South of the border, the atmosphere was electric. I can honestly say this was the biggest show I have been at this year and all for a great charity. As the day progressed I took a stroll around the many stands dotted around the field. I stopped of at Mick Mc Cormacks stand. Mick and Lorna are always so welcoming and have a stand full of everything for the hunting fraternity. Next door was flight & bite Outdoor Clothing & Footwear. I had a great we chat with owner Richard Caddell. Richard and I go back a very long time from our times at The Great Games Fairs of Ireland at Shanes Castle. I think most of our outdoor gear for dog shows were bought of this man over the years. You would not go hungry at this show. Burgers/Drinks/ Snacks/Teas and coffee were all available on site. The children had a field day with a child handling class. Every child got a medal and a bag full of goodies. With their barking and crooning canine friends by their sides, these little people were in their happy place and full of winning spirit As the day progressed into evening, it was raffle time and then the excitement began. It is unbelievable the buzz of excitement the raffle generates to the people around the ring. There were some great items in the raffle, and some very happy campers going home with great prizes The Racing started at approximately 12 noon followed by Showing. Here are the Racing and Showing Results: ***Racing Results*** Pups Kieran with Jimmy Kirsty with Sika Whippet James Mullen with Junior James Mullen with Toby Under 21s Lynzi Gardiner Magill with Bill Rose Mc Coy with Arlo Under 22s Lynzi Gardiner Magill with Venus Rose Mc Coy with Texas Under 23 elite Lynzi Gardiner Magill with Lady Lynzi Gardiner Magill with Cody Under 23s traditional lurcher Mj with Lila Under 24 smooth Lynzi Gardiner Magill with Jack Rose Mc Coy with Prada Under 24 hairy Harry Roche with Sula Joyce Scott with Susan Master McGrath Jake with Storm Joyce Scott with Guss Mick the Miller Jed Donagh with Chaz Lynzi Gardiner Magill with Sugar Light bull Yapper Hayes with Lady Leigh Thompson with Roxy Heavy bull Joyce Scott with Mable Leigh Thompson with King Terrier Matthew Wisdom with Rocco Elaine with Ruby Greyhounds Barry Holland with Hunter ***Showing Results*** Overall Champion Pup Clodagh Gentle with Dash Overall Champion Whippet James Mullen with Toby Overall Champion Lurcher Shane Burns with Buster Overall Champion Terrier Marty Mc Donald with Rebel Overall Champion Strong Dog Chris Mc Court with Sandy Overall Champion Hound Iveaghs Grapevine Overall Champion and Best in Show Marty Mc Donald with Rebel Overall Champion Reserve Chris Mc Court with Sandy Congratulations to all above winners and well done. And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank the judges on the day, for doing a wonderful job.The Judging was delivered with accuracy and integrity, and a job was well done by all. A special word of thanks to these legends in the Doggie world yes The Mc Grath Dog Racing Club Carlow. Again this year Biddy, you and the boys, and you as a team excelled yourselves in everything you done on the day for the Burren Working Dog Charity Show and Club and many thanks for that. You have been so helpful to so many clubs North and South of the border over the years and long may it last. Finally, Finally this top show would not of been possible without this now well experienced and brilliant show organiser. Yes, I would like to thank the coordinator of this spectacular charity event Stephen Mc Nally and his family, Dad Louis, mother Margaret, brothers Martin and Noel, sister Theresa, Philip Mackin, and a most willing, helpful and friendly back up team and helpers for another top charity show and race day. A light went out in the Mc Nally household, when Stephen and his family lost a son and a beloved brother to cancer. This is total heart break for any family, but Stephens reason and inspiration behind the Burren Charity Working Dog Shows is to keep the memory of his brother alive through giving back to the charities, through his dog shows to the people who helped the family in their hour of need. This years chosen charity “Daisy Lodge Cancer Fund For Children “ is a charity that makes a real difference in the lives of families affected by cancer. Their mission is to empower and connect families, giving them the support they need to cope with the emotional and practical challenges of a cancer diagnosis. They also stand beside bereaved families, offering care and guidance to those grieving the loss of a child or parent. This is where your gate, racing, ring and raffle contribution to The Burren Charity Working Dog Show will go to, and what a very worthy cause. For that we truly thank you for your contribution. Thanks to Stephen and the Burren Team for a most enjoyable day, for the kindness you have shown to John and myself on the day. A brilliant venue and a brilliant day full of lovely memories, and I am already looking forward to more of the same god willing in 2026. To we meet again God Bless. Margaret Mc Stay

The Keep er Lit Dog Show and Raceday Sunday 20th July 2025
Doagh Equestrian is situated on the beautiful Antrim coast in the village of Doagh, Co Antrim. This was a new venue for the “Keep er Lit” Dog show and Race day and the ideal spot for   last Sundays Show.
From early morning, cars and trailers arrived from North and South of the border. Some people came as far away as Limerick and Drogheda with families and dogs in tow. Our good canine folk love a good dog show in the summer and a chat with like minded people. They certainly were not disappointed at the Keep er Lit show.
As the show progressed, so did the banter and the craic. The rings were well spaced out with a good long race track. Paul Boyd was there with his country sports stand, with everything needed in the hunting fraternity.
Some very tasty burgers were available on site and an Equestrian shop with great discounts on offer on the day. I had to take control of my retail therapy when I got into that shop, as I was like a child in a toy shop with to much to choose from.
The weather was glorious all day and at times to warm. As usual the raffle generated a great buzz around the field with some great prizes on offer.
The show started with the racing first at approximately 12.30

The racing was carried out as usual to perfection by The Mc Grath Racing Club Carlow. These people have many years experience in the Canine world both in showing and racing and their input helps to alleviate the pressure on the show organizer on the day. A job well done Biddy and team.
Some lovely photographs were taken on the day by various people, and no doubt these will be up on the site shortly.
And Finally, Finally, they say behind every good man is a good woman and Leigh Thompson along with Paddy Gibson, you both definitely fitted into that category. Your show was run with impeccable organisation. It was evident on the day a lot of hard work and sleepless nights was put into  this now annual Show. Leigh and Paddy you pulled out all the stops on the day and produced a top class show in a top class venue. Well done and a credit to you both.
I am Looking forward to more of the same in 2026. Thank you for the memories. To we meet again God Bless.
