A walk round the shoot

We do the same, they are more excited about the squirrel bashing than the days game shoot, I think some of the kids would like to double gun it and have a loader?

They aren’t alone, I’d take a good days squirrel bashing over a day on driven pheasants anytime. It’s always been my favourite pastime (nearly)?

But I suspect you might have an idea......hot tub at the ready.....?

I’m not going anywhere near a hot tub, according to one of Stavross’s posts I’m better looking and will get invited into it?

I’ve had a hair cut and been out on my peddle bike for the last week, so we will see who gets the invite into the hot tub ?

Foxes are 24/7 and 365, certainly best to keep on top of them and you can never relax, just when you think you may have a breather the next lot turn up.

I have a free range chicken/geese/duck farm and the fox is pretty obviously public enemy No1, I take out around 14 foxes every year there and they just keep coming!

We are the same on the shoot, there’s always a few about but luckily the shoot next door hammers them and comes onto mine as well to help out, it was a bit of a bumper year last year with him taking 16 over the two bits of land a me taking 7 off ours, they have just done a lovely long bit of set aside that’s going to be my game cover so with any luck I’ll be able to draw a couple into this before the birds go in

I got 1 last year and 1 this year so far but due to shifts am only there a couple of hours every 2/3 weeks .But as a shoot normally i,d say 3 or 4 get the shotgun treatment as well so say 6 a year tops but the shoot is surrounded by sheep farms so the whole area is "protected" by a ring of like minded farmers so foxes dont last long hereabouts .The new threat seems to be Polecats and the odd Stoat very vicious little predators those

That’s something we don’t have any trouble with, the biggest problem we have with the ground nesting birds is badgers, we have far more of them than foxes but there’s not much we can do about that ?
