I think if everyone where to take your advice the majority of the time by just 3 matings with a day in between, then most bitches will be in pup. What about the men that where relying on pups and there bitches didn't hold, they'd be kicking themselves that they didn't mate there bitch a few more times. And a shorter tie? What's the point? I can see if you don't know what your doing and your guessing, and at that time you should probably go get a progestin test done to tell you what day. I don't want old and weak sperm in my bitch. I want strong vital is what I want. But do what you must. And I think because I'm America you guy's just like to argue. Go tall to a specialist and they will tell you the best way to breed and how to get the most out of it.

A dog at 5/6 year old is in his prime. The reason you wait until then is because if you breed of a dog at 2yr old and rear pups from said dog that dogs only got at the most 1 full season under his belt even if that! Why would you breed off something that you don't know is a quality animal? You don't, so you wait until you know and then you go. Simples

I understand that. All I'm saying is age isn't helping the sperm count that's all. Then the extra work is just making it weaker. And your right, you should wait to see how the dog is before being bred
