Size Of Salukis

Was talking to someone recently and a line of pedigree salukis was mentioned. Now not wanting to start a bitching session but he said they were not pure as they were too small ?

 

When looking at the breed standard kennel club and the saluki or gazelle hound site they both say 23 -28 inches bitches slightly smaller. The line in question comes into this standard, although I do know there can be variations in adult size within the same litter. The person I was speaking to said dogs needed to be at least 27 inches ?

 

Out of interest what heights did some of the better know kc registered coursing salukis grow to, eg Cruise, tor of Dartmoor, Khan ,nero and any others that were worked ?

We had a narrow 23" bitch and a built 28" dog at home, they vary so much in all ways, that's why I think its funny when people say salukis are this or that as if there all the same.

Salukis can vary in height weight and conformation from 24 to 28 inch tts the bitches usually range from 24 to 26 and dogs from 24 to 28. tts. The weight and thickness of coat can depend on the region they are from. Some variation of colour from solids to grizzle and broken colours but steer clear of brindle USA kc has just recognised brindle but COO dont accept them as being from pure stock.

Supposedly theyve the lowest inbreeding coefficient of any breed/theyd be expected to vary a good bit from one extreme/place to another.(ive seen adult greyhound males of 42lb and 105lb-both are the same breed)

the Amazon price is a duffer mate, its been on there for years, few traded hands at third of the price, email the website direct and she will sell you a copy far cheaper than that ,

Why is brindle not accepted as a colour? See it in slouhgis, basenjis and a few other breeds with no bull blood in them
