There is no problem as i see if this is the way the americans do there shows...after all the americans have imported there stock from england mostly for big bucks... its not like any sensible terrier man would source a terrier from an american... but i do like the way the promoted terrier work in that clip.. it was family fun with a voice over like he was promoting a hollywood blockbuster...the man and his wife want to go down and catch up with a few friends and have a nice time away over dogs..no biggie... ffs we parade around over here like eejits while some man eyes a dog then runs his hands over them for a poxy rosette.. give the man a break.

Would the IWTF support the caging of an animal to trial / test dogs on ?

Doesn't the IWTF run and support shows ?

You being a hypocrite again Canary ?

If it suits them to do it that way, what harm. Trials were held in the past in Ireland that were only slightly better for sounders. 5 minutes barking at quarry in a tunnel (Shore) for a certificate.

Any of them as you're too scared to talk personally but brave enough to mouth out of you publicly. A real sign of a cur.

Another question.

Other than "nice dog mate" or "Cooney's a wanker" have you actually ever contributed to a post where you actually talked dogs ?

If it suits them to do it that way, what harm.

Trials were held in the past in Ireland that were only slightly better for sounders.

5 minutes barking at quarry in a tunnel (Shore) for a certificate.

But they were a social occasion as well. Before the internet and mobile phones a way to meet up.

If there are people who are wiling to get out there ratting, trials, bushing it is all good IMO.

Maybe not what I want to do, but every man to his own poison.

I agree that the trial for sounders were poor but it wasn't a rat and it wasn't in a cage and terriers often failed.
that's not all the show is neil, there is alot of different things you can sign your dog up for. It's called a show, people having fun with there dog's and meeting other's. It's not hunting, Lmao!! It's called letting your dogs have fun. When you guys don't hunt your dog's they gotta be bored out of there minds! Some of you are just so hardcore, Lol,

My post wasn't aimed at you or the Americans Rippem. It was aimed at P3D who seems to think a pet rat in a cage is the same as a 30 lb badger who's free to go backwards or forwards. He also seems to have no problem with terriers working a caged animal while he flies the flag of an organisation that's opposed to such things.

Personally I've no problem how other countries conduct their dogwork as God knows we here in Eire have had British anti's coming over for years to try and ruin our way of life.

But I've been to enough trials (regulation and flapper) and shows to know that the intention is always good and a meet up with some friends and their dogs is always the objective BUT they ALL eventually end up falling into the hands of the money men and pretenders.

I knew of one puppy peddler who runs a few flappers where all his dogs are for sale before hand. But when the qualify they're still for sale but that piece of paper pushes the price up by 200. Who's the fool there, him or those who part with the cash.

I remember another trial ran in a regulation under Teastes Beag rules that was won by a Jack Russell that was standing 4 foot from it's game.

The judge (judge, not judges) was from the Continent !!!!!!!!!!! and was staying in the winners house, LOL.

To put them in to context, my old bitch Dixie was disqualified on a Sunday but on the Tuesday we had a 7 hour dig to her in the real trial, the natural earth.

Enjoy your day out Rippem and it's great to see terrierwork alive and well worldwide but remember that a pet in a cage being "attacked" or "terrified" by a baying terrier falls right into the hands of the antis so I'd keep videos etc. ALL under the radar and for first prize I'd have a bag of dogfood or a set of couples with no big prestigious titles and that way the money grabbing bullshitters might stay at home and only real dog men would attend.

JMHO.

i can agree with you on all that you said.

My word. Are you on your period Neil? You appear to create an awful mess on here at times!

Didnt some Nordic country run some clinical trials that proved that a terrier baying at a caged animal did little to stress the caged animal? They become more stressed when fellow males or the same species come into their contact? A millenium of built-in defence mechanisms!!!

One would assume the people running a public event like that would have considered the legality of it all? Who needs the British ANTI's when fellows like you appear content in planting seeds in such peoples heads on the WWW. This is obviously beneath you a man of your talents.

But i dont believe anyone mentioned it was a serious test for a terrier?

As Rippem, FD and PD3 said its just a bit of harmless and maybe pointless summer fun for terrier enthusiasts. One would hope they are on the same side as us.

I sometimes think if people are not digging 10 day they are terrier people to the self proclaimed big shots on hear. Our idols tend to drastically fall short in reality. There is also a various spectrum of what people call terrierwork.

Each to there own I say, but please dont ruin another thread as its only a bit of light summer fun.

For the first time in your life Canary, tell the truth, did you understand all of Roger Kunts post ?

Listen all i asked if anyone heard of this one guy that's all. Nobody ever said it was a test of your dog or it's the best show ever. IT'S ALL FOR FUN WITH YOUR DOG AND TO HOOK UP WITH SOME FRIENDS. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less. So no need to argue or fight over it. And any time your not hunting and your doing something with your dog's that's a good thing. Better then sitting in a kennel doing nothing. That's what lazy folks do with there dog's, nothing.

Roger, read my post again and read yours too.

My point is that videos etc. when seen by the public will make a big influence on the publics perception of terrierwork.

So what you're saying is that when folk put up videos of these trials they should also put up the results of the Nordic trials with them ?

OR do those who watch these videos have to search else where for the Nordic trials results ?

Don't talk shit Roger, if you are a hunting man you'll know that a hunted animal doesn't feel stress 'till it's too late but we'll never make the un-educated realise that. But lets not give them them the ammo to try and educate those who before didn't have an opinion on the issue.

Regarding am I having a period ?????

NO, I'm a male of the species, which means I have balls.

It's American who gives a fuuk about what they do to a rat See mr paranoid heads away thinking everyone on here is the same person hahaha

obviously you don't know any americans. Not many hunt rats here. But honestly if we had as many rats as you guy's do i would hunt them for fun. Why not.

You being a hypocrite again Canary ?

Answer to your first question as a man who has sat on the IWTF Committee.... of course not... it's highly illegal in Ireland,,,

but if its legal in other countries I personally would not knock it, especially if it brings families together hunting fraternity and non hunting fraternity ...after all 20 years ago I would have showed pups a rat in a cage...would I do it now..no.. It means nothing in the real world of terrier work... but I wouldn't bring my 14 year old nephew/ neice whos mad about the dogs to a positive cull. but I would bring them along to a day like this so they could bond with other younger terrier folk there own age hopefully who could exchange tips at fieldcraft.

Answer to your 2nd question... no the IWTF do not run a show...although I suspect you already know this, because for a man who has no time for the IWTF you seemed to be obsessed with them..or is it me? stop.end

Of course the IWTF support working terrier shows.. to again promote legally conducted terrier work in its most positive light but the IWTF don't run a show as far as im aware.

.Also some folk give up there spare time when not hunting, running businesses and having personal permission to keep correct... to make sure to promote properly conducted terrier work and the best place to do that is at a country fare here in Ireland when the weather is good folk can meet up and have a chat...

Now if that makes me a canary or whatever your AKA calling me these days lol so be it fs...
