Have Our Eye On A Pup This Year..

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Recently joined the thl and am enjoying searching through the posts. I'm from the Edinburgh area.

Kept lurchers up to 15 years ago until work took over. Still do a bit of ferreting and some trapping but the wife and I are preparing to take on a pup this year.

I had a Hancock bitch in the past and a bullx bitch after her. The Hancock was a lovely natured dog, great on rabbits and the odd long ear if the conditions were right. After her was the bullx, again a lovely natured animal, keen on everything from rabbits and upward.

After careful consideration have decided the later dog is what we would prefer as expect a mixed bag around our area.

Would welcome any pointers on bullx litters due perhaps late summer from good working stock, not decided wether a dog if bitch yet. Happy to travel as i travel up and down the country for work anyway so driving is not an issue. Any help appreciated.

Anyway thanks for reading

All the best

Thanks for the replies.

We were hoping to find a pup around august/September time.

Afraid i don't know any lads on the forum ,bit of a lone hunter.

Im going to try post a few pictures of some hunting trips we've had ferreting, perhaps that may help with building my credentials:).

All the best

Thanks again for replies.

I'm really in no rush,im doing a bit of research and hopefully find the right pup.

If the right pup comes a long sooner, then perfect. Have seen a few past litters in some of the topics which look good animals.

Ideally a strong racy bull greyhound type, perhaps a 5/8 3/8 like the previous bitch i had, the breeding would be more important to me than anything else though.
