Monoblocking?

Recommended Posts

anyone on here experienced in mono blocking? ive no experience at all but going to give it a bash, anyhelp at all is appreciated

the garden where the concrete pad/garage is uneven, you can see the pad is sitting higher than the old drive, what id like to do is run monoblocks near enough the width of the garage slopped from the pad to the street.

going to need to dig out the at side and then some of the front, shutter it then hardcore.. the blocks will be alittle higher on the right/pad looking at the front of garage where a step leads up, what kind of edging can i use to keep it in place?

how difficult you reckon it would be, what challenges can you see?

hope the above makes some sense lol

As said easy enough if prepared right but does it slope down the garage ? if it does what you going to do about drainage first

not 100% sure what you mean mate, garage is on a flat pad, block paving will slope from the pad to the street?

looks easy enough dig out ample hard core vibro plate it then sand area that size you can use a scaffolding pole to level it and start laying the bricks when you go to order them you can see about the bigger bricks they have for edges

i did mine at the front the hardest bit was getting rid of the tonnes of earth we had three 4 tonne pickup loads and a big skip full

your will be cutting the bricks for the scottish lion :tongue2::laugh::laugh:

when its done it will slope like that mate, will need to build it up abit at the pad and dig at the street side.. did you shutter yours?

lion and a claymore sword lol

No need for shuttering, if its going to be driven on regular, use pin kerbs to form your boundary, they will also hold your blocks in better than edging kerbs

and are cheaper

depth wise you will need to dig out the depth of the block you are using + 100mm for stone + 40 mm for sand ...........try not to use more than 40mm of sand the less sand you have the more compact you will get it and less chance of movement, your over all dig depth should be about 190mm .........do it right the first time and you won't have to repair it a second time
