Logan Pellet Testing - Warr 20M Indoor Range, Washington.

Recommended Posts

Well gentlemen my Uttings parcel finally arrived this afternoon so I decided to visit the indoor range due to the weather and wanting no wind effecting the shooting.

For those that aren't aware I bought a Logan S16 last week, for very little money, however it did have a couple of issues. It seemed to shoot ok when I shot in the guys back garden, however it was at a spinner at 10m. I'd read a few reviews on the Logan and was aware of cycling and loading issues, so when it felt a little stiff I wasn't that bothered. The scope was terrible and on closer inspection so was the moderator, a piece of the baffle was protruding internally and causing the pellets to scatter like a 12 bore. Also I realised the guy had been loading the pellets into the magazine the wrong way round, stiff cocking and cycling now sorted ??

I've now fitted a new 4-16x50 Hawke Airmax zeroed at 30m/25yds and a new Coul-tec Q1 Moderator, which is outstanding. I tried a few at Bagnall's and this was the best and only £52.

I gave the barrel a really good clean and then started to re-coat with JSB Exacts at the Swarland last week.

I tried to order a couple pellets that seem popular with a majority of people and then a couple of unfamiliar and maybe slightly cheaper to see how the Logan S16 responded. I appreciate this test has only been shot at 20m, however I think it gives a good representation of what should be happening at slightly longer distances. I'm by no means the best shot in the world, however I'm not a COMBAT CABBAGE either. I felt all groups were honest and apart from 1 or 2 shots I called the pellets where fair.

The pellets I chose were:

Accupells

Panther Domed

HW FT Exact Jumbo

Falcon Accuracy Pluss

I was impressed with how accurate the Logan was to be honest, it's now starting to bed in nicely and becoming more consistent, filling the air to 180lbs definitely helps as well, thank you for the advice. I was shooting off a piece of rolled up carpet, so no bi-pod fitted. Here's a few pictures of tonight's results, hopefully I'm heading up to Swarland on Sunday to do some outside real environment shooting.

Seems to like an accupel mate. I'd stick with them for now.

I felt the Falcons grouped tighter, all 8 pellets only made the two entry holes. The Accupells seemed to be a little wider group, however on a positive side all 4 different pellet makes would have been head shots on a rabbit. I also thought the Panther Domed worked well at £6.50 for 500

I'd really appreciate it if somebody could spin the pictures please, thank yoooo

if your doing the pics on your iPhone nelly you've got to slightly tweak them then save it, mine dose it and its a fcukin nightmare.. they look good on the phone then good on the mac!

then there upside down and side ways on hear :censored:

the pellets will sort them selves out when you get to the out door range, I've only got 20m at home and I've had ace results then pushed to 40 when out and about and they have been sh!te..

have fun on sunday, ill see you the sunday after if your up there

Well you definitely rained on my parade with the distance thing mate hahahahaha To be honest I expect further expertion as the distance greatens, I think it looks promising at the moment. Like I said I'm more impressed with the consistency of the S16 Si after the stories I've heard . I'm starting to really like the older PCP Rifles, some character in em.

Those faps look good, they often impress me in many different guns, a very under rated pellet by folk.

Be interesting to see what it groups like at range.

Ian at the range seems to think they are a JSB derivative mate, which I'm inclined to agree with. The shape of the pellet and the tin look very similar to the Exacts

It was shooting spot on with jsb exacts jumbos

pellet on pellet and that was with both of us shooting it once you got the mod off it lol

looking at them groupings all under a 5p group i would say its NOT PELLET FUSSY AT ALL MATE

But once you lead the barrel up with which ever one you pick it may change if you change pellets iv had this happen before
