Black rabbits

Can remembers a good few years back whilst ferreting in Huntingdonshire! catching Black rabbits!

Anyone else had these?

We always caught one or two black rabbits a season in a particular area in Ross but we always let them go because we thought they were bad luck. Did dispatch one on a days ferreting and the van broke down on the way home.

Have seen couple (in the daytime) on one of my local lamping spots but never caught one but we did use to get several in near Malham in the Yorkshire dales about 25 years back!

know where it is

aye mate.i always reckoned the keepers put some down in my area to see if anyone was poaching!!!

Hadn't seen any until about 4 years ago, seen about 5 or 6 since then and dealt with most of them. I have a photo of one but it's film not digital.

 

Just like the picture above though, they are the same as the european but they do seem different. Watched them interact with normal bunnies and they seem to get on just fine! Still waiting to see my first white one!

Only got 2 ferretting but saw 6 tonight on the lamp to far to kill with the air rifle though

I caught this one earlier this year,did see it go to ground and was going to let it go if i caught it but the ferret had other ideas.It was the only rabbit of 4 not to bolt from the warren and i saw at least 2 go in.

yes i have ferreted a few black rabbits and also shot a few in the lamp on some of my permision in one perticular place theres about 30 in a quarry

Yes there are more and more of them these days only joking just wanted to wind up some of the racists on here. But yes I have seen them quite a lot in Essex but have only seen a few in Kent since I moved here six years ago.
