mark williams 7,568
Paid the money and took my chances buying this old classic the FWB Sport 127 mk1, approx.` 1978. I had to get the piston seal replaced and the simple breech seal and off we go again . On the first attempts she was dieseling mildly and the groups were poor. After a 100 or more practice shots the very mild dieseling seemed finished but the groups were still poor - 5 inch groups ! Then suddenly a 4 shot group as tight as you like, within a 5p piece. So I re cleaned the barrel, checked the scope ( classic Tasco 4x40) perfect on other rifle - so after speaking to a well known gunsmith ( who will stay unknown please) I was told to hold the rifle butt between my thighs and high up, hands either side of the fore end screws and shake. I was told if a FWB opens up with this little test, that the ball bearing latch at the breech is fecked and a barstuard of a job to get right again,- basically time to move her on as she did open up Anyways I put her away for a good month or so butt up, barrel down to try and drain any excess lubes in her that may be there ? Don`t know why but after this mornings hunt I got her out, off the Primos, Targets out, cocked her, shot her to a big diesel and produced 20 or so erratic shots then suddenly she seemed to calm down. " Here`s the results on a 5p coin size target with "four consecutive shots",- so no fluke. Here she is. Here`s her grouping. Your thoughts lads ? 1 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
I can't offer any advice Mark because, I've got no experience of FWB rifles all. But, my thought is that you should keep it and persevere with it. From reading your earlier posts about this rifle and, knowing your reasons for buying it, I know how pleased you'll be when it finally comes on song It may take a while to sort but, don't get disheartened. When you're pissed off with it, put it away for a while - even it's in the cupboard for weeks. ...... It'll get there in the end and, you'll be glad when it does 1 Quote Link to post

PeskyWabbits 464
Keep it. It isn't as if it takes up much space. It isn't as if it costs anything extra to run It is your little luxury. An item that is old but still fit for purpose. 2 Quote Link to post
