tillylamp 1,967
nice to see something different are you settling in ok iv'e been waiting a bit of time to get a pic or two of these seals, they never seem to stay up on the surface long enough to get that shot..... then, today there was four of the buggers, which finally posed for the camera...... we have settled in quite well thanks bud, we will probably end up moving up island in time, or, even on the mainland further up towards the Yukon, but who knows where we will end up....life's just one big adventure mate....

MIK 4,763
No more so than our otter .I know what you are saying about Mr Potter ...but I relish see him on our river and has very little impact on the salmon stocks or wildlife in general ...on the river I grew up and still fish today there were plenty of water hens ..they had all but disappeared around the early nineties when there were numbers of mink starting to show ....the past 2 years I have really hammered the mink I've not had one or seen signs of one since late summer and this year we have a pair of water hens and a dab chick has appeared .As for seals you just have to look at the Ythan mouth up here in NE. Scotland where 2-3000 can be seen on the sand bars ...these were culled in the past but Grampian hunt sabs and sea shepherd uk have stopped that ...I hear there are a pod of orcas of the coast feeding them .....lets just hope the riflemen and orcas can put a dent in them or the salmon stocks have no chance Edited November 26, 2016 by MIK
