Syria, Who's Right And Who's Wrong?

Recommended Posts

Quick question to BGD, why does Assad still enjoy public support in Syria despite these atrocities he commits?????

He has support among the Alawites because they're his ethnic group and he hasn't been bombing the f**k out of them for the last 5 years.

You really think he has support of the majority of the citizens of Syria? Well if that's the case he won't need propping up by Russia and the West will he? I assume he'll be holding free and fair elections any day now to prove how popular he is among the population

Who are the people he's bombing then???? Don't tell me, innocent civilians....

personally I think the west is arming every raving looney in the desert to overthrow Assad without getting there hands dirty, and Russia are helping an elected leader as written in most of the war law

The Middle East has thousands of years of tribal and family allegiances. Through marriage , political or military superiority. it is the way of the Society. The low levels of Education in Saudia one

The middle east is a bloody complicated place. Yes, to the outsider, the people are basic and simple but, they operate on a system of morals and honour that has become alien to us now.   Of course

Three quarters of the population of Aleppo have been killed or displaced by bombing since 2012, were they all armed militants?

Collateral pal I'm afraid, the rebel rats like to use innocent civilians as shields. It's nothing new and unique to war, ask Tony Blair and his master that question....

Suppose a respectable opinion poll found that Bashar al-Assad has more support than the Western-backed opposition. Would that not be major news? | what's left

So he is bombing innocent civilians then it's just that you see them as collateral damage. OK then.

A bit like ISIS, they are also bombing innocent civilians, difference is they are purposely targeting innocent civilians. And when some of these innocent civilians are possibly yours or my own family then it is a worrying problem. Edited by DogFox123

The narrative you're pushing in this thread is incredibly contradictory, first he's a strongman dictator keeping hold of power by cracking down on the population with an iron fist and then he's a beloved elected leader with the support of huge swathes of the population, which is it?

The western world likes to call him a dictator don't they?

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter....

You were calling him a dictator yourself earlier in the thread! You really need to make your mind up.

Who do you think has killed more of the Syrian population, Assad and Russia or ISIS?

Why did the civil war start and why is it continuing? Goes back to the Sunnis vs Shia divide. Assad is Shia and most of syrian population the Sunni.

I'd say the West wouldn't you? Russian bombing is wiping out ISIS, Western bombing strengthens them....

It was all going nicely to plan for the Yanks until Putin stepped in....

If you want a Europe filled with refugees (I know this gives you a boner) and terrorist attacks then I can see why you support western actions.

That's debatable unless you group all the rebels in as ISIS.

I didn't ask who's bombing supports ISIS the most anyway, I asked who's killed the most civilians.

So leveling cities and wiping out civilian populations is perfectly fine as long as whoever is doing it has a "legitimate right" to be in the country, righto.

Does that work both ways then.....

Is it only Assad and the Russians killing innocent civilians?????

The Americans are not quite so pinpoint accurate as you might think...
