It just depends how you go about it as to the outcome. they have know legal rights or power, and the worst thing you can do is enter any form of dialog with them, don't speak to them by phone and don't write to them, everytime you do they build up a bit more knowledge about you by asking for your details, these people are just bullying chancers, ignore it 100 percent and nothing will come of it, the first thing they do is ask for your name just to confirm there speaking to the right person, in truth they don't know who you are as they have not got access to the dvla computers, I know loads of people that have had these and ignored them and in every case, the letters get stronger and more threatening, then just stop, the Internet is your friend, there are sites telling you excactly the same thing as I am mate and these parking pricks have never won a case in court,

"Ignore the letters" might of worked years ago and was the advice given pre 2012... http://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/parking-eye/
Gaz_1989 9,539
Greyman you said they have never one a case in court: "Parking Eye have won many cases in the county court. They have achieved this by sending trained solicitors to argue the case against untrained and, often naive, members of the public. Irrespective of the facts of a given case, this clearly swings things firmly into Parking Eyes favour. Whats more, is that Parking Eye cant reclaim the cost of the solicitor legal costs arent usually allowed in the small claims court; thats the whole idea of small claims. As such, where a solicitor is used, ParkingEye make a financial loss on such cases, even when they win." And you said they can't access DVLA computers: "Those PPCs who are members of the British Parking Association Ltds 'Approved Operator Scheme' can get unlimited access to registered keeper data from the DVLA. Those bigger companies who process thousands of these tickets every day can apply for DVLA access electronically using the 'Data Protection Act' exemption of 'Just Cause'. This is the equivalent of those companies having a DVLA computer terminal in their offices. At this point, access to registered keeper data is based in a small part on a contractual agreement and a large part on trust, and in reality that access is totally unrestricted." Lloyd90 509
I just ignore them and they've always gone away, even very recently! Those signs only form an agreement with the driver at the time, not the registered keeper! Only the council ones you have a I reply to!
