dytkos 17,896
Kids have always eaten shit, its part of being a kid, popcorn, candy floss, toffee apples, just an hour round the fair ffs, as long as they eat a reasonably healthy diet its no problem. Problem is who determines their diet. Cheers, D.

Now it seems to be a line between government telling people what they can eat or feed others ,and people that have become too reliant on convience foods that they need telling what they should be eating,
DIDO.1 22,855
Some good points on both sides. Personally I believe the key is education. Me, my mum and my niece all went to the same school.....obviously years apart. My mum did regular cooking class and she still cooks good simple meals from those lessons now. I did home economics, we spent six weeks doing health and safety and drawing picture's of cooking implements before being asked to cook egg fried rice....I was put on report for refusing to cook wog food. My niece years later did food tech lessons....they had to take in a ready made cake and decorate it!! Kids should be taken to the local market and shown different cuts of meat and shown how to choose different fresh fish. Shown veg and given ideas of how to prepare. Round here we have Bolton and Bury markets, if you go just before they shut you can fill bags with fruit and veg and get meat galore for less than a couple of takeaways. We eat healthy, all sat together at a table and me and the Mrs have always worked full time. Porridge/toast/eggs for breakfast. Buy a slow cooker! It just takes planning. You don't see many fat Pakis, because they are in the markets or supermarkets buying the damaged good and cheap deals then doing big pans of wholesome food (admittedly the women prob don't work) but it just takes planning. Kids have never been hungry these days so would shy away from real food, it's then easier to fill em with high fat high sugar junk then drive em to the school gate. I'd have bacon butties and fried potatoes then walk miles to school. Once in a rut it's hard to change, this is then passed on to the next generation. I bet if you looked in the bin of people who can't afford to eat healthy you would find takeaway boxes. That's why scum areas are full of takeaways. How much is a kebab shop tea for 4-5 people? £20-30??? I could supply enough veg and fruit to last a week on that along with a few oily fish and a gammon joint or two
