skycat 6,174
Have a read here http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01722966 these steps talk you through changing the default location so you can then see where it is now and depending on what program you used to scan It's all a bit confusing for me . I think I'll have to pay the local IT man to sort it out. I just hate being so incompetent with these things, but I can spend hours and hours trying to sort things out and still get nowhere except extremely ratty!

Phil Lloyd 10,738
I genuinely feel for you Skycat My own predicament is on similar lines,...unfortunately,...in my case,...same as the Hare,.."I am fecked, and I do mean,..proper fecked" An entire book,..(ready for the typesetter), plus 5000 images,...all my memories,...half my life....gone,..forever.... At this moment in time,...I think that is me, done and dusted,....time to move on,....time to say goodbye.... I wish you well, and hope and pray that you retrieve your valuable memories... All the best, Phil.

skycat 6,174
Oh my God, Phil ... that's a real disaster. Surely some technically-minded wizard could retrieve them, somehow? It is always said that once on a computer, you can never truly lose something ...it's in there somewhere!
Phil Lloyd 10,738
Not this time,...I've lived the life,..chanced my arm,...and pushed my luck,.so many times,...but sooner or later, Lady Luck deserts ya,... NO going back on this one.....Locky Ransomeware got me, fair and square. Edited May 27, 2016 by Phil Lloyd

skycat 6,174
A massive thank you to Al who is, to me, a wizard with magical powers, though he's probably an ordinary human being who actually knows what he's doing on a computer. Thank you so much!
