Well i could not sleep so up i got and made a cuppa settled down to watch Creed the new rocky film and sat sanding and smoothing out Richie's stock

she is as smooth as glass now ,just need to 0000 wire wool her down to get rid of the fine scratches off the wet and dry

then she will be ready for the first thick coat of oil (Tung oil) then she will be left to stand for an hour , wiped off then left to stand until dry

then ill repeat this three or four times until im happy with it or Richie is

let her stand for an hour and a half then wipe off and let stand until tomorrow or late to night then another coat will be put on and ill repeat this three or four times .

Sorry if i put to many photos on lads but i want the lads to see how there stocks are coming on and this way they can see the progress

This was an easy fix , with it not needing stain then oil then rub down then oil then well you get the picture lol

it takes a hell of a lot longer with beech stocks as once they have been sanded back you have to stain them then wire wool them then keep repeating the process and its the same with the true oil every coat has to be left to dry until the next day

Then start all over again lol

So if it takes 9or10 coats its 9or10 days to complete never mind the time it takes to sand it back in the first place

Right Richie she is ready to be picked back up mate

For a 22 yr old rifle stock she was not as bad as you or i thought mate

you can pick her up tomorrow night give me a bell when your setting off as im at work and dont know when ill be finished

Hope your happy with her .

I dont want any thing for doing this for you(but im keeping the oil lol) ill give you whats left in the other tin and tell you how to look after it .

The work done

Stripped back all the dings and dents + scratches(bar two witch were to deep but smoothed them out)

Sanded her right back

Smoothed her out with wet and dry ,800grit first then 1200 then 1000 dry at first then with soapy water to get that extra smoothness

Applied Tung oil left to stand for an hour and a half then wiped off and buff,d then left till next day

Clean,d the but bad and the white spacer so it looks like new

then rubbed all over with 000 wire wool and another coat of oil

this will be left until tomorrow and buffed again

JOB DONE
