Air Pistol

Looking for some advice, want to buy my brother a half decent Co2 air pistol for Xmas, he will be using it for rats and small game, I have about £100 - £150 to spend can anybody send me in the right direction as I know nothing about them! Thank you in advance

Toughy this mate as they aren't many air pistols that should used on game, imo, let along for 100-150 quid. However, IF I was gonna do that, Id get a second hand BSA Magnum 240 or maybe look at a second hand HW45 in 177.

If you can find a good used Sheridan pistol in .177 .20 or .22, they are excellent, about 5.5 ftlbs and will kill small game at 10-15 yards very cleanly, the Crosman ratbuster is not bad either similar power, but not the same build quality, however with £150 to spend you should be able to get a new one and buy some trick bits to improve it.

You are right j j m. They are superb.

 

I only say shooting game as I remember an old article in airgunner where one of the 'hunter writers' did an article about creating a stock for his .22 magnum and went after rabbits at 15-20 yards. I bought one soon after. Ahhhh. The memories.

Don't know about the gun tbh looks like a hw40, But I wouldn't bother with the Pao scope unless anyone knows different, I got one for my 97 I either had 3 or 4 replacements and not one worked.

I would reckon one of these would fit the bill superbly, only heard good reports on these, and very close to legal limit power, single or multi shot, .177 or.22.

Or pay in Polish Zlotys and you'll get even better value for money... 64.50 Sterling. A bloke I know on another forum says this one's very accurate in the multishot version, and I'm thinking of getting one meself...

I have a Crosman 2240 that I've tricked out with a stock, a Hawke Sport Dot and a silencer. Does the job out to 15-20 yards, delivering about 6 fpe at the muzzle.

 

 

NB CO2 loses power in colder weather (when the rats tend to come in from the cold), so your mate would need to zero the pistol with a fresh CO2 bulb before a shooting session in winter...
